1. Monahan is 20 years old.

2. Monahan played in his first NHL playoff game.

3. Monahan played against the other team's top lines for the majority of the game, and held them off the score sheet.

4. Monahan did not have a good night in the faceoff dot. See #1&2 above.

5. In the third period, he became noticeably more comfortable and started to tilt the ice in Calgary's favor.

All the speculation of a shoulder injury or flu is just that. Speculation. Until someone comes out and says differently, I am assuming Monahan is going to continue his strong third period play next game.

Threads like these are painful to read. Back away from the cliff folks....
I dunno, there was some legit grounds for this speculation and lots of the mainstream media was onto it as well. It all stemmed from the fact that he took so much rest time after the season ended.

Great to hear that he's OK. I am super pumped for tomorrow night.

Agreed, but the media is looking for a sensational headline 9 times out of 10, while tending to rely on "rumors" and "sources" that are circumstantial at best.

With it confirmed that he had the flu, there we have it. Couple days of rest, a few IV's of fluids, and he'll be fine.

Go Flames Go!

As per The Score: Bob Hartly says Monahan does not have a shoulder injury.

Is this just playoff bluffing or could he still be injured. Maybe a wrist or hand.

Shoulder looks like it's in terrible shape as well.

Clearly a torn bicep, it's a common problem amongst Flames players this year.

Oh, and it was caused by gripping the stick too tight, not from landing on his face (that's how he broke his collarbone).

Monahan is obviously faking any injury he has. He saw Mark Stone do it in the early game and thought it was a great idea. Didn't even have to take a 2 handed slash to the shoulder either.

At this stage of the season, the only information about injuries is rumours and speculation. So if you don't want to hear rumours and speculation about injuries, best to assume all players are perfectly healthy through the playoffs. Because the teams aren't about to start announcing this stuff unless it's keeping a player out of the lineup.

I heard he has two hangnails and a papercut. Bad combo for his soft hands.

Don't forget it was Dreger who reported the "shoulder" injury. I'm dealing with a viral/flu thing right now, and I couldn't even bend over. If Sean has a version of this illness, I am surprised he can stand at all. Let's hope that is the case. Oh yes, and Dreger needs to be struck down for inventing issues and getting everyone upset. And now just imagine Game 2 with a healthy Sean Monahan. Yahoo!!

Monahan was sick at the start of the year and it clearly affected him, so im guessing it's the same thing now.

Throughout the regular season, it was all about winning the seven game segments, so it makes sense that the playoffs are about getting the 2 points.

How many points do we need to clinch?
