Canuck fans on HF are bitter and still very cocky. That first game went the way I hoped. I figured it would be a tight game.
Vancouver has lost 13 of their last 15 playoff games and 7 straight at home. I hope Diaz is close or give Spoon a shot. Our defensive depth is being tested

Listening to the team 1040 today and it seems that theCanucks broadcasters are stunned that the flames won yesterday Like it was the canucks god givin right to win game 1. I had to laugh and shut off the radio.

The Flames do need a much better answer to the Sedins.
Quote:
Here’s the thing: the Sedins did dominate game 1. When they were on the ice, the puck was constantly in the Flames’ zone. The Canucks out-shot the Flames 18-3 with Daniel on the ice, 17-5 with Henrik on the ice. The problem was that they just weren’t on the ice enough.

^ Ha... I thought they dominated. I was scared every time they were on the ice.

You may be absolutely right.
Canucks had plenty of powerplay time...

With the chances the sedins/burrows had in the first period, Calgary was lucky to make it out of there tied.
After that they faded a bit, but after the first 10 minutes of the game, I was feeling pretty pessimistic about Calgary's chances.

First period for sure it seemed like the Sedins were dominating. The rest of the game I thought they were less noticable. Especially after that hit onto Daniel or Henrik (I can't remember which one).
How good are the Flames when the first line gets their mojo back?!
I just wish Gio was back :'|

Its not to discount what they did mind you; they had a good game...
but Calgary played atypically with respect to taking penalties...i would expect Calgary to go back to being very disciplined and not giving the Canucks many pp chances in future games.

I"m not sure what Desjardin was thinking with his forward line and defensive pairings deployment third period. Maybe he thinks there's value in saving his better players for later in the series?
It may have worked for him in the regular season, but in a seven game series that's just a rookie coaching error. Advantage Flames.

Nothing new there. Calgary spends most of its time in its own zone trapped by the other team's first line. But the other team often doesn't score.

I thought they dominated the first team on offesnive zone time, but the actual shots were from tough angles or blocked. There were a couple good chances but that happens (and it happened via Bennett at the other end too).
Then I thought they became less and less effective at even controlling play.
So while they played OK and controlled a lot of the play, I wasn't nearly as scared of them as in past seasons, when they seemed to have open passes and open goalmouths constantly.

It is very obvious that Hartley is owning the coaching battle right now, not too sure what Willie D is thinking over in Vancouver but here are the Sedins ice time numbers last night vs the meaningless game 82 against Edmonton.
Playoffs Game 1
H. Sedin - 17:29
D. Sedin - 16:14
Edmonton Game
H. Sedin - 17:38
D. Sedin - 18:11

Hah - if he's trying to keep 'em fresh, why did they play at all against Edmonton.

I fully expect the Canucks to adjust and lean more heavily on their top players in the next game. Hopefully the Flames top line responds.

On weekends at least the entire Windermere valley is pro-Flames.
