I'm thinking he will sit game 1 and maybe 2. He will be taught the Canuck's weakness or told to focus on a Flames strength in that time, then slotted in to give the Canucks a really big headache.
I also think Bennett will be on a short leash. If he has a bad game, he'll be tossed back in the press box for a game or two. Currently not the situation to allow leniency for learning on the job unfortunately.

Answer should be yes....he improves our 2nd PP immediately....he can be sheltered 5x5 if that is a concern, but frankly I think he is already ahead of most of the other candidates outside the top 3.

As much as I would love to see Bennett play, I don't think opening night of the Stanley Cup playoffs on the road is the place for it. The kid has zero experience with the NHL overall. You can't shelter a player like this on the road very easy either. Unless the coaches see something that those of us watching closely don't, I really don't think he plays.

Based on the fact that he's practiced on Backlund's line (and the second PP unit) the last two days, I'd be very surprised if he isn't on Backlund's wing tomorrow.

Yes. Dress your best players no matter their age. He has been practicing for a week with the team, has had pre-season games and 1 regular season game under his belt.

Err... didn't he play vs Winnipeg?
I want to see him play though, but I'll cautiously say no for now and enjoy the crow later.

Hence my addition of "overall" after zero experience. One, didn't even matter game at the end of the year? Nothing compared to opening night of the playoffs on the road.

Play the kid. On a third line scoring role he could be a great fit. The Canucks have been boasting about their scoring depth and Bennett gives us a boost especially with Bouma out.
His speed, tenacity, passion are all key elements this team can use

Play him. Some additional potential offensive talent at this time of year will help. Notice I said potential, besides the Huds pass vs LA, what else has Raymond done offensively in the last 20 games. Besides letting the puck drift off your stick with no one else around. He is good at that.

Hartley's gone full illusionist with things right now. Who the hell knows what tomorrows line up is going to be until we see it on the ice for puck drop.
Bennett could and should play but I think it's a bluff.

I agree, the amount of different lines he's played on in practice in the last two days makes me think its very possible he slots in tomorrow. Especially because Raymond has been freezed out recently in practice.

I like Bennett alot. He spent half the season being around the team healing. Most think he earned a spot on the team out of training camp.
He is the type of player that could make a big difference to this team in the playoffs "COULD"!
If its a choice between Raymond and Bennett as far as I am concerned its not even a discussion. A guy who dont play D, Does not hit, and does not score. Bennett at his worst would be as good as or better than Raymond!
Now if we are talking about Paul Byron? I would still prefer Bennett but think hartley goes with Byron. Byron earned his spot!
Been waiting for a long time for Raymond and Bollig to show us why they belong in the league. I am still waiting!

Well I would think all the many doubters feel silly now. Sam has been the best player on the ice so far.
