Would love it if this championship win was enough to convince Janko it's time to take the next step. I want him playing in Stockton next year.

PC Men's Hockey @FriarsHockey
This marks the first time in program history that the Friars have won the National Championship!

Wasn't that long ago the Flames' prospect cupboard was pretty bare overall. Feels great to watch a game like this and think Gillies, Janko and Hickey could all be pretty decent pros. The future is pretty damn bright.

Hell of a Frozen Four for Mark.
Yep. I was as skeptical as anyone about him before the season, but he really has had not only a great tournament, but a great year. Good to see progress.

I don't think you have to convince Janko. The ball is probably in the Flames' court.

Any chance that Gillies was going to go back for his senior year is gone now. Now, the question is, does Jankowski (and/or Gilmour) join him in signing an NHL deal?

What a great couple of games for Jankowski on the national stage this week.

Wow. Big win by the Friars. Nice to see Jankowski playing well on the big stage. Gillies and Hickey too.

Watching it in slo-mo, I'm not even sure that shot was heading toward the net (it went off the inside of Gillies' right elbow and out. Could have bounced off him and in though so kudos to him for keeping the puck out.

#Flames prospect Jon Gillies, who just made 49 saves to backstop Providence to NCAA crown, last week: “I don't think there's any individual spotlight on anyone. It's a team game. We play a team game, and that's what got us here and gave us this opportunity, and we're going to play a team game to try to bring a national championship back to Providence. There's certain stuff that comes with being a goalie, but I'm just another one of the guys on this team. I never want it to be looked at any differently that way. It's been a total team effort up to this point, and we're going to try to keep it going.”

A summer with van Asten would do him wonders.

Wow what a bounce the Friars got. Someone better be watching O'Connors booze intake tonight.

Congrats to Gillies, Gilmour and Jankowski. Gillies stole the show and Jankowski proved he's as cool as a cucumber in big time situations. That alone should get fan pumped bout this kid. But no, there's more! With ice blood in his veins you also get:

Elite playmaking
Great Ice Vision
A wicked wrister
Silky smooth skating
Sound positioning
Faceoff maestro.

All that and more at the low low cost of the 21st over all 1st round pick in 2012. Should I add it came with a bargain add on of Patrick Seiloff?
