Saturday is going to be a fun day to just sit back and enjoy some hockey. First, the Flames and Jets with nothing on the line but getting ready for the playoffs. Then, at least one Flames' pick is guaranteed to become a national champion Saturday night.
It should be a good game. The top two teams in Hockey East meeting in Boston. They split their season series this year, with each team winning in the other's home building, but that was way back at the beginning of November.
Providence is only 50 miles from Boston, so both teams should have strong support in the crowd.
Eichel is a finalist for the Hobey Baker tomorrow, and BU has already won two trophies at the Garden this season (the Beanpot and the Hockey East title). This could cap off a storybook freshman year for Eichel before he makes his way to Buffalo or Arizona in the fall. Or, Gillies can backstop the Friars to their first ever national championship before he goes pro.
