You know you can just NOT post in here??

What do you care about what others are talking about?

I for one I always interested in any Flame past or present, and think it is a very good topic for discussion (the size of thread would seem to validate this)

If you disagree, just don't come in here.

I'll be so happy if he scores the GWG goals in regulation against the Jets and the Kings.

I doubt it.
Would they be wrong though? That's the problem, the situation was never black and white, and either side will spin whatever happens the way they want, with out necessarily being wrong or right.

If he doesn't make it, the Sven fan boys could still say the Flames ruined him and he never recovered, if we'd treated him right he'd be an NHL player.

And if he does make it, the Sven detractors we'll call them could still say, oh well, took him to get traded to figure out his attitude was wrong, he corrected it and now he made it.

For example, my honest belief given he's now been called up and is seeing AHL success he didn't see with our system is that it proves his attitude was bunk. He hasn't spent enough time yet with Vancouver org. to have had them go in and fix whatever was wrong with his game, so IMO it can't be development systems. What it is to me is proof that Sven went to pout city a couple of years back when the Flames sent him to prospects camp after his 5 game call up, and then eventually sent to the AHL because in his mind he'd proven he'd made it and didn't want to have to compete for his spot anymore. From that point on, the only thing that was going to work for Sven was if he was simply given a spot, he was refusing to work for it, and then when it became clear he was never simply going to be given a spot he'd have to earn it, he wasn't going to try until he got what he wanted which was out.

Now that he's out, he's all happy again and willing to play properly. That's what I think has happened. And you can hear it everytime he opens his mouth and talks about why it didn't work in Calgary, it's never about what he didn't do, it's all about what happened around him and the environment he was in.

Of course the counter to my point above would be to say that it's working out so quickly in Vancouver because they are using him right. I don't believe that, but it's also not possible for me to prove that I'm right or wrong on the matter.

Which is why you won't see any "admissions" of guilt lets say, from either side in this argument which ever way it works out for Sven because there will actually be no proof one way or the other.

I welcome - no, I dare - Van putting Baertschi out there against the Flames in the first round.

If that is the best the Nucks have for a 2nd line LW right now, I like our chances.

Sleeper cell activate. Proceed to take out the Jets and Kings.

This was always a trade that could come back and haunt us for a decade or more. Sven is a rare potential game-changer type of forward. If he has re-found that initial spark we all saw when he first played for us the trade outcome will be hard to swallow.

Canucks were out of call-ups though. Only way he can come up is if there's an injury and it's an emergency call-up.

Atleast, this was the impression I was under.

And if the 2nd turns into a Shea Weber or Milan Lucic?

I hope Sven flash in the pans his next 5 games with Van just like he did with his first call up in Calgary. That would be ideal no doubt.

I think Sven will be the Buffalo version of Cody Hodgson for the Canucks.

I expect him to do well to start.

Thank you for using 'coincidentally' and not 'ironically' like most people do nowadays.

That would be nothing like Hodgson then.

Cody got his contract on potential. He was junk the moment he arrived.

Not saying you are wrong...but have you ever seen him execute the said game-changer role? I haven't, but I never saw him play in junior or the A, and he never impressed me as a Flame.

Hodgson had 34 points in 48 games for the Sabres in his first full season with the Sabres.

I think you'd be doing cartwheels if Sven did that next year.

If we forcefed him first line minutes and piles of PP time and he gave me .7 ppg while being a gigantic liability, I'd be livid. Both by the team's mismanagement of him and by the lack of production because of it.
