I don't think Buff got a penalty on the play. Suspension should be coming though.

What was Buff thinking there? That was seriously ugly, and not a hockey play at all, that was a dangerous, over the line play. AV was right in saying that was one of the worst cross checks he's ever seen, it's easily one of the worst I have seen.
He no doubt gets the rest of the season off.

Finally saw the play.
I wouldn't at all compare it to Bertuzzi Moore.
It's definitely worthy of 2-5games. I won't be stunned if he gets nothing.

$1500 fine and a firm finger wagging. It's not like the NHL cares about setting any standards -- never have, never will, until someone dies and I'm not even sure that would make a difference with the old boys club running the league.
I love this game and the NHL but the discipline it hands out is the biggest joke among professional sports.

I actually think that, while Buff obviously meant to crosscheck him, I don't think he meant it to get him there. Miller fell awkwardly and ended up in a spot Buff wasn't expecting. I don't think Buff meant to hit him in the neck.
Regardless, that's what happened. Suspension worthy either way, but I see 1-3 games. If you see it as deliberate it's probably worth 5-10.

Yes, he was referencing how Drew Miller took a skate to the face tonight and has a pretty scary cut. Also, it's JT Miller, not JD

I hope Buff gets 5 games. He is horrible on Defense, and we should trade him in the off season while his value is high.

I couldn't be happier about yet another Jets collapse last night. While it happened a little sooner in the game, and not in the last minute, is there another team that is showing such a propensity to blow things really late in important games? Crucial games against St. Louis and Chicago with less than a minute left, and now against the Rangers with less than 4 mins.
It looks good on you, Winnipeg. May you never make the playoffs and perpetuate the legacy of horrible NHL hockey that your old team earned in the eighties.

That was one of the ugliest cross checks I have seen in a while. They need to come down hard against that. That could have easily been a broken neck.
7 games.

Reason: (and if it wasn't at the sake of the Flames, I like Winnipeg)

Give Miller 2 games for the ugly slash, give Byfuglien 5 for the retaliation.
Seems about right...

just saw that Byfuglien crosscheck ... wow. He better not be allowed to play another RS game this season. Big suspension coming hopefully, that could have been devastating for Miller.

Watched the play about 10 more times.
Byfuglien reacted to a vicious slash on his goaltender. You either want a response to to that slash, or you don't.
I want a response, and there are no half measures.
I doubt Byfuglien meant to almost break Miller's neck, but you don't get to respond only a little bit. You either do respond, or you don't.
That said, he has to be suspended - and if the Jets were my team I would be OK with both the reaction to the attack on my goaltender, and the suspension that went with the retaliation.

A vicious slash? You mean attempting to bang in the puck that was loose in front of the goalie? He was trying to shoot the puck.... Not hit the goalie.

No, I mean the vicious slash by Miller on Pavelec (who was down and defenseless).

Be nice now. We had pretty good teams back in the day and they were a lot of fun to watch. The last WHA team was a match for anything the NHL had to offer. Even after being plundered by the NHL for being allowed to join the teams were still decent.
There isn't a lot to like about my old city but the people there are pretty decent and Im glad they have an NHL team again to watch. The playoffs would be a nice reward for the fans.
I would rather see my hometown team in the playoffs then Vancouver.
Having said that, If they cant control their stupid play then they don't belong in the playoffs. And if it comes down to Calgary or Winnipeg on the 11 April... sorry Winnipeg.

This so called vicious slash was at Pavelec's pads and was an obvious attempt to shoot the puck. Not sure what you're seeing there. but there was nothing vicious, nor any slash from JT Miller

So Byfuglien just decided to perpetrate a random act of violence in response to nothing?

No, he was trying to clear the net and make someone not want to go back in front. Doesn't mitigate anything and is essentially superfluous
