If my quick research is right, Gaudreau's 56 points is most by a Hobey winner in his NHL rookie season since Neal Broten in 1981-82.
Broten had 98 points, so I don't think Johnny will catch him.
Might be right, but mainly due to a technicality: Paul Kariya had 39 points in 47 games in his rookie season. Pro rated that's a 68 point pace.

The next season Kariya had 108 points, for those looking to project Johhny's path.

Monahan is now tied for 10th in NHL Goal Scoring with Malkin!

Adjusted I think Johnny could hit that next season.

Is it too late to order a retro jersey? I'm not seeing it anywhere.

Its Just too bad Hiller wasn't playing tonight. His gear would have been pretty distracting to the other team.

11 points in 11 games remaining would give Johnny a 68-point pace.

Another reason to love this team is the community work they do. I randomly cam across this picture, it is from after the game today.

I actually know the family and the boy in the chair from when I used to live in Calgary. Today happens to be the Feast day of St Joseph in the Roman Catholic tradition, and the boy's name is Josip which is Croatian for Joseph, which is a big deal to many Italians and Croatians.

Happy namesake day Josip

One of the many reasons I love this team

Edit: The boy's dad is hiding behind Gio.

Gaudreau and Monahan are big game players. The boys treated this like a playoff game, and the Flyers didn't.

This! Guy is only 20 years old, second year in the League and has played against the top lines all year long! Just imagine him when he matures and hits his prime in a few years. Bennett and Monahan as your 1 - 2, with Gio and Brodie on the back end. Watch out...

It would be crazy if Johnny could score like Paul Kariya for us. I mean it does seem like the sky is the limit for Gaudreau. Just keep him away from whoever projects to be Scott Stevens.

Awesome pic there, CroFlames Seriously classy bunch of dudes.

Seeing Gio back with the boys (doing cool things) makes me happy, but I'm even happier that the media has more or less stopped talking about how awful his absence is for the Flames, given how they've just kept on truckin'

I think it's time to stop referring to them as "retro" jerseys and start calling them Flames jerseys.

This young team looks damned good in them.

Having these as our full time jerseys would be a great way to usher in a new era and help get rid of the last 5-7 years of futility
