Does the Memorial Cup final end after the Stanley Cup final?

The Memorial cup happens at the same time as Round 3 of the NHL playoffs. Late May.

Sweet. So Bennett can join the Flames after coming off a pretty big high.

Has anyone ever won the Memorial Cup and Stanley Cup in the same season?

The more recent discussion seems to be questioning Reinhart's potential. If you think Bennett will be better, fine, but I personally don't see any "progression" that would have me concerned, if I were a Sabre fan. If you prefer Bennett, again fine, but I can almost guarantee if the players were reversed and the Sabres took Bennett, Flames fans would be extolling Reinhart's virtues (great WJC) and chirping that Bennett is an injury concern or some other non-sense.

Well, I was on the Bennett train prior to the draft.
As for Draisaitl, every scouting list posted had Bennett ahead of Draisaitl. And part of the reason they picked him was that he was physically ready for the NHL. So unless he turns out better than Bennett, they were idiots because Bennett was projected to be the better player and they chose someone else for (at least partially) the wrong reasons.
That is not a slight on Draisaitl in any way, btw. And yes, he is a very good player.

It's so funny that the Oilers basically picked Draisaitl because of his size.

They picked Draisaitl because he was the prospect that was most ready to be ruined by their organisation.

If we could find the pre draft poll, a significant number around here had hopped on the Draisaitl bus, iirc.

I have seen some in this thread (I think Bingo) mention eNHL scoring (or is it NHLe scoring) which is a predictor to show what a player is doing in JR. to translate into the pros. I have googled this, but cannot find any stats on it. Can someone give me a like to something about this? I am having an argument with an Oilers fan that is telling me that Draisatl is STILL better than Bennett, and want to see if I can add some ammo to the argument.

Draisaitl is 8 months older than Bennett, which is definitely significant at this age.
Draisaitl did have a higher ppg average in their draft year. I do not know whether the WHL or the OHL is a higher scoring league overall.
March 2018 we will have a much better idea.

I think the OHL is the toughest league out of the 3.

Careful in that argument. If you piss off that Oiler fan, he may point to all the other amazing prospects the Oilers have developed in the past decade!

I don't get why people would bother having an argument. Let them both play 3-4 years in the NHL then argue who is better. But by then I imagine one would be better than the other.
Till then enjoy the ride of a great OHL partial season.

Last year:
Draisaitl: 1.64 PPG -> 40.3 NHLe
Bennett: 1.60 PPG -> 39.3 NHLe
This year:
Draisaitl: 1.55 PPG -> 38.2 NHLe
Bennett: 2.33 PPG -> 57.4 NHLe (small sample size)

I always thought the WHL was the toughest as the scoring totals are always lower.
Kind of like the western conference vs eastern conference in the NHL. WHL vs OHL and QMJHL. Could be bias growing up watching the Rebels though ha

The OHL and WHL have the same NHLe (0.30). The Q is a little lower at 0.28

What is NHLe for the Providence Friars?
I'm trying to win an argument that Jankowski is better than Mitch Moroz!

I didn't know that. It always seems like the OHL is meant for the top rounds, and then finding WHL gems in the later rounds of the draft. Interesting.

There was a time when the WHL was probably the best and the QMJHL was the worst by far. Now its likely even, the QMJHL improved when they gained exclusive rights to players in the maritimes... back in the day english speaking players would end up in the OHL (i.e. Dan Ryder).
