Star Spotlight: Sean Monahan not playing like a 20-year-old
Official Calgary Flames Hockey Club forward, Sean Monahan, is only 20 years old, younger than Johnny Gaudreau. He has 24 goals this season, is the youngest 20 goal scorer in the NHL and is the youngest player in the top 20 in goal scoring...he is a star.

He just always looks to be in the right place at the right time. Hopefully he can hit that 30-30 by season's end.

That's what happens when your hockey I.Q is off the charts.

If you read this column on a regular basis, you know I don’t tend to make bold predictions about what might happen to a player. But with Monahan, I’d be remiss not to emphasize that the future looks incredibly bright – perhaps brighter than for any player I’ve profiled in the more than 18 months I’ve been writing this column. If you can get Monahan for a reasonable price in a keeper, do it – and I mean do it now. He’s my bet for the NHL’s (and fantasy’s) next young breakout star.

All things considered, I think it’s realistic to predict a huge breakout for Monahan next season, with him possibly threatening or perhaps exceeding the point per game mark. In terms of comparisons, we could be looking at Monahan having a third season at age 21 like John Tavares did in 2011-12, when he posted 81 points in 82 games during what was also his third campaign at that same age.
I never would have pegged him as a PPG performer, but if it comes to pass, I shall not shed a tear...actually yes I will, joyfully.

Young Money now has 25 goals. 5 more to go!

FYI - he has more goals than Kessel, Jamie Benn, Datsyuk, Cammalleri, and Carter.

Combined!?!?!??

Let's hope Treliving can maximize his value at the draft

Mony has the same amount of points as Iggy did in his first two seasons but Mony has played 10 games less.

Iggy first two seasons: GP-152 | G-34 | A-48 | P-82
Mony first two seasons: GP-142 | G-47 | A-35 | P-82

Pretty sweet if you ask me.

I liked how jacked he was when he scored. Reminded me how jacked Gio was with his OT winner in LA.

There is a fine line though with being too jacked. Yakupov was "too jacked"

That move he put on Gibson last night was so slick. Even better that he got the shot on his forehand when the puck rolled on him. Gibson just made an insane desperation save.

And then the patience he showed on his goal... Wow! He'll make 30 goals.

I sometimes wonder why the other 42% of world doesn't agree with me. Some people just seem to disagree for arguments sake.

I predict 2 goals against the Leafs and another vs. the Avs.
After this weekend he'll only need 2 more. 30? Bah! Why not 35-40?

Which raises the burning question:

Which national hockey commentator's pubes will you eat if he doesn't?
