This tandem made the game even more pleasant to watch.

Very good. They had been in camp and could talk about guys like Carr and Elson impressing. Probably would have been annoyed if I was a Coyotes fan being they had very little insight in them, but as a Flames regional tandem you have to be excited.

They are just so professional. It's a headlining HNIC duo which we have as our regional team. We hit the jackpot.

Very, very happy about the new duo. Flames games are going to be much easier to sit through on TV this season regardless of the on ice product.

As I said in the PGT - how about some love for Ball and Hrudey!!!! Very stoked to see Sportsnet pick up these 2 guys. They called a great game. Now Sportsnet, don't go muck this up with digital advertising all over the glass/ice again this year, and you'll be back in my good book.

They talked a lot about the Coyotes' prospect namely former NHLers' son playing for the organization. So, they have F Henrik Samuelsson(Ulf Samuelsson), G Brendan Burke(Sean Burke), F Ryan MacInnis(Al MacInnis), Max Domi(Tie Domi), Connor Murphy(D Gord Murphy), Brendan Perlini(Fred Perlini), and Sam Gagner(Dave Gagner). They even have former Russian's coach Viktor Tikhonov's son playing for the organizations. Then they have Jackson Playfair(Jim Playfair) on a tryout.

What's up with Kelly Hrudey? Time off, doing other things? Doesn't seem to be around much.

Feels like a lot of games, maybe because I enjoy his colour so much, lol. He's one of those guys you really notice when he's absent.

I like Hrudey a lot, but at least they have a great replacement for him in Craig Simpson. I've always liked his work as a colourman.

He misses Friday games, likely because he's traveling to Toronto for the HNiC studio stuff. That doesn't explain this game, but is probably the reason he's been absent before.

Give Simpson credit, he realized how much of a gong show the Oilers old boys club was back in 07 and got the hell out.

Hopefully Ball wants to stick out West, as does Hrudey, because, hands down, this is the best broadcast team there is on Snet, and in a long time in general for the Flames; they were good as the late duo Saturday nights last year as well. On top of things, professional calls of the game, proper insight, everything you could ask for. A complete enjoyment to tune in, whereas the last two years, the mute button got a workout.

Hughson/Simpson up there as well of course (though Hughson's gotten a bit too snotty in his older years) but listening to the other national games with Randorf of Romanuk stumbling and stuttering through late Saturday or Sunday national games, and Mike Johnson repeating "unsustainable" for most of the season when he does the Flames games, I have a sneaking suspicion that year 2, our regional guys are going to have the chance to move up the Snet ladder, if they wish.

We have to remember that some telecasts are national vs regional broadcasts.

For example on Sunday against the Sens, it was Romanuk and Johnson

Tonight was also a national broadcast

And that one was awful. I really liked Romanuk... but this season he sounds lost most of the time.

I do like Mike Johnson usually.

Craig Simpon is alright. He is no Hrudey tho. Simpson does a hell of a job but he is not as straight forward with everything as Hrudey is. If a player on either side is playing like #### he is not shy to mix words. Hrudey at the same time never says anything that will come back to bite him in the ass later. How many times has he predicted a playand then a minute or two later ....it actually happens ?
He must be a wizard!!

Ball & Hrudey are the best. I wish all our games were regional because of them. None of the national guys are as good as Ball & Hrudey.

And my extreme disdain for HNIC now just adds to that wish.
