may as well get something for him. EVERY prospect passed him in the depth chart this year.

If this is a 2017 pick I'll be kicking dirt. That's not helping us any time soon.

Brutal. Simply brutal. He is going to blow up in Vancouver and we get a damn second back. Meanwhile for Conolly Tampa got TWO seconds. A guy with worse career stats in the NHL.
Treliving has brought in big stiffs like Bollig and Engelland and meanwhile trades away a skilled prospect for nothing. I am not impressed.

They should have used Sven as a bargaining chip to acquire a high end player in a package later

That's correct, he's a very good prospect who will likely turn into a good NHL player.
Not a fan, and of course it had to be the Canucks. This is certainly one that I see burning us in the years to come (hopefully it'll be moot if our rebuild keeps progressing at this rate.
I don't want to pretend to know the inner workings of the organization, but certainly as a fan something has always seemed a little off with the handling of Baertchi.
It was like he came in, showed how good he could be with that crazy tear in the NHL in first season, then it's like management just wanted to bring him back down to earth for the sake of it as part of his progression, and he never really recovered.
I hate Vancouver, but I genuinely hope he works out there, he seemed like a good kid who got lost in a bad situation. Wouldn't be surprised to see him playing well in their top 6 in the next couple of years.

Risebrough level trade.

Players with bad attitudes thrive in Vancouver, this could end up being bad for the Flames.
I don't mind the value, I just hate that it is the Canucks. Hopefully the Flames draft a stud with that pick that destroys the Nucks for years to come!

From a first rounder and all the Flames got out of it is a second rounder. Sigh...hope the second round pick turns out better than Baeartschi.

Ask this. Where was Baertschi fitting in? Poirier and Ferland ahead of him, Bennett coming. Gaudreau, Monahan. Granlund. Only so many spots.

A few things to remember
Don't forget Sven has not made an impact in the NHL yet and several later players have now passed him. Not that deserving of a big return in most GM's eyes I would bet. As mentioned earlier he is waiver elidgable coming up too so good tim eto move on. Maybe a new start will be good for him or prove that he wasn't what everyone thought.

Watch the Canucks putting him on the same line with the Sedin.
I am so ticked off about this. I didn't mind if Treliving trade him to Islanders, Pens , Chicago or Red Wings for 2nd or 3rd round pick but come on how in the heck can you trade him to our arch rival, a team we hated so much.

I dont get the people saying its a failure of a trade
if Sven doesnt turn out to be a 2nd liner than you got a 2nd round pick out of rival, and if the management group is making this deal to the Canucks its 100% clear they dont believe in him
I am happy from a Canucks perspective and the risk far outweights the reward, but it's not a sure thing at all

Okay, so Feaster built a fast skilled team with a coach that is able to get the most of these guys to put them in a playoff position 60 games into the season. We have a bunch of young guys vying for spots on the roster and not enough room, and underperforming overpaid vets with term - namely guys brought in by Treviling - in their way.
Giordano goes down.
And we pick up Schlemko from waivers, unload Glencross for picks, and unload our first rounder from 2011 for a second-round pick in 2015.
Not pleased. Not pleased at all. Baertschi is going to make us regret this.

I cannot believe this.
He was never put in a place to succeed this season.
I have a feeling this is going to look like a bad move for a long time.

Awful trade. I don't mind Baertschi being traded but certainly not for a second round pick and definitely not to the Canucks.
