I honestly wouldn't mind this trade at all for us. I think Petry is a decent #4 with #3 upside, could really help us now and when we're ready to contend.

He isn't terrible. But I can't imagine Petry would be on the block for Calgary under these circumstances.

Is there a reason sharp is avqilable? I just dont get why a team like the blackhawks would be looking to offload a vet like him..

Having horrible year. Something like 3 ES goals for all season. Whole offense for Chicago has been below their average instead of Kane who was keeping that team alive. If not they would be in the hunt with us for final playoff spot.

They also have serious Cap crunch coming up and now may be the time to extract the msot value out of him. Toews and Kane 10.5 M Contracts kick in and Seabrook needs a new contract soon.

Im not sure his term but cap hit is 5.9 which is pretty high but not really an issue unless the term is long. Hes a sniper that can play the right side and flames could use some scoring right now. It would be nice if we can get sharp.

They would probably keep the player if he wanted to re-sign. I bet he told them to screw off when they approached him about a new deal.
