Won't play

Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
FWIW Giordano didn’t go with Brodie during the line rushes. Fourth line was Bollig-Granlund-Poirier. #Flames

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
Pairings look like: Engelland-Brodie; Russell-Wideman; Potter-Diaz in warm-up. No Giordano involvement. #Flames

The fact he's taking the ice leads me to believe it isn't as bad as it could have been. Maybe they needed the extra day and hours to see exactly what degree it was. Of course, this could just be a test (although I don't know why you wouldn't do it away from the warm-up).

Positive news, regardless.

Good for Gio . This might sound bad but I hope he takes the night off. 4 days off will really help.

You have to think the Calgary won't be happy that he posted that information.

I'm still skeptical that this isn't just a way to try not to show their hand until after the trade deadline.

Scott Cruickshank @CruickshankCH
Giordano leaves ice with five minutes left in warmup.

Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
#Flames captain Mark Giordano just left the ice...right before shoot-around. Not a good sign for tonight's game vs. #Islanders. #CGYvsNYI

The fact that he is fit enough to take to the ice is good enough for me. Suggests that barring any set backs, he will be fine for Philly onwards, which is fantastic given some fears.

Our captain is an amazing hockey player. He must be a cyborg. Whatever happens, kahones of absolute steel to even attempt to try to play. No wonder the Flames never give up.

Probably smart decision to keep him out tonight, we don't play till Tuesday anyways.

Hopefully he truly is close though and this skate isn't just to lower trade demands for other teams dmen.

Still could be mind games for trade discussions.

Trying to show GMs that he won't be out for long.

mmm, if he cannot shoot, I'd give him a few games to sit out. No harm in resting the man. Long term POV supercedes short term risk.

If there's any threat of causing a long-term injury, I wouldn't want him to play but Giordano without a shot, is still our best defensive player. So, if there's no threat, I hope he plays.

I am glad he is not going after hearing how weak his shots looked, we need him more for the long term run than tonight. No need to risk anything.

Doubt it's serious. Docs would not let him skate even if it's an upper-body injury, much like how Bennett had to stay off skates during his recovery.
