Friedman says the Flames are trying to get Glencross to expand his list. In particular trying to get the him to add Rangers to the list.
Glencross might be a fallback for Chicago if they can't get Vermette. They are among the top bidders for Glencross.

This must be getting pretty frustrating for glencross if he actually was asked to expand again

He's probably realizing that maybe he's not top 6 after all. Because a top 6 winger making 2.5M or whatever would get snapped up in a hurry.

Ouch. Don't see this as good news. Glencross has already submitted far more teams than I thought he would have too. Guess the GM is not getting what he wants from the 6 team list that was already submitted.

Friedman says if Flames can get what NJ got for Jagr they would probably be very happy.

At the risk of getting eaten alive by the "asset management" people...
I wonder it Gio going down influences Treliving's decision on whether or not to trade Glencross? Losing your captain and an assistant captain in a less than a week isn't exactly an ideal situation.
Not saying it does, but if it was me making the decision, the thought would at least cross my mind...

If anything, losing Gio might trigger a few more trades. If management thinks the team will slide without him they might go into more of a selling mode.

Brewer has been a healthy scratch in Anaheim lately. Given Gio's potential situation, I wonder if something involving Glencross and Brewer would be possible.
I think I'd still prefer picks though

At this point, a 2nd will do.

Stop. The Flames shouldn't make any knee jerk trades for any "quick fixes". Stay the course, follow the plan, don't do anything drastic. If the Flames trade for any defensemen, it should be a young guy who has a future with the Flames not a journeyman who isn't playing well for another team.

I think the bigger problem is the Flames have better offers from teams that aren't on his list. Interest in Glencross doesn't seem to be an issue.

Not sure what they will settle on, but no doubt they are trying to get more.
Glad they are playing hard ball, just hope they don't wait too long..... again.

Right now sounds like Glencross is the consolation prize for the teams that miss out on Vermette.

Gah, I hate that. That was the case last year too with Cammi behind Vanek and Gabby.

Losing Glencross and Gio will give our key building block Monahan to continue to step up and take some leadership responsibilities. The kid is 20 going on 30 he is so poised and mature.

Oh great this just came out at the Sloan Analytics conference
@CraigCustance: Data shows Datsyuk, Briere, Okposo, Eriksson score more clutch goals than comparable players.
@CraigCustance: Curtis Glencross highlighted as a player whose goals come in less meaningful situations compared to league average.

Has me starting to think it will either be part of a bigger trade, or a precursor to a bigger deal where we move out the assets we get from trading him.

Could be as simple as the teams wanting him are close to the salary cap and with each day that passes the easier they can afford him.

Atleast he scored that tying goal with seconds left in the 2nd last game but that stat does not shock me. His two biggest goals of the year both came against the devils - last game + seconds left to pot the 2nd goalie-pulled goal in november.
Edit: He should also include Monahan in that group, I don't think he knows how to score non-clutch goals lol
2nd Edit: Was actually thinking about non-clutch goals and remembered his 20th goal this year came late in a 6-3 loss to Anaheim and laughed when I saw that his 20th goal last year was in a 6-3 loss to Ottawa. Strange stat lol Boring Sean Monahan should have been all over that!

Classic half full / half empty example...
It could just as easily mean they continue to get better offers from teams not on the list and want to keep the bidding going.
