Flames Glencross to Washington for a 2015 2nd and 2015 3rd round pick (WSH) (Archive)

update 7:
Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Curtis Glencross waived his NTC to facilitate deal to #caps. Calgary gets a 2nd- and 3rd-pick coming back in return.

Craig Custance @CraigCustance
Flames tried hard to get Buffalo's third-round pick from Washington as part of that deal but it's the Capitals 3rd going back to Calgary

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
The 2nd and 3rd round picks CGY gets from WSH in Glencross deal are 2015 draft. Trade call hasn't happened yet, though.

update 6:
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Glencross traded to Washington.

Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
I was told a few times maybe a 3rd, but could be more RT @DarrenDreger: Sounds like a couple of picks for Glencross from Caps.

update 5:
Boomer says Glencross was asked to add the Caps to his list and he said yes

update 4:
Friedman on HNIC says the list is Anaheim, Tampa, Chicago, Nashville, and LA maybe more

update 3:
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Treliving says Glencross has not demanded a trade, but discussions have been had about his future. #Flames

update 2:
Dean Molberg @fan960boomer
#Flames asked Glencross for a list of teams he'd join via trade. I'm hearing he's now asked to be dealt. Could be he's played his last game.

update:
Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
#Flames LW Curtis Glencross confirmed he's been asked to provide list of teams he would accept a trade to. Declined to say how many listed.

I don't think the contract talks are going anywhere.

There have been teams that have called about him. I believe Boston has at points. I believe Pittsburgh has at points. I believe Winnipeg has at points. I am not sure, I don't know how the Flames feel about doing with Winnipeg, a team they can see in the playoffs or a team that they are going to race against to the playoffs. I am not sure how they feel about that.

Glencross has protection, but I think he would probably be very happy to go to Anaheim if there is a match there - I am not convinced that there is.

I think we are getting to the point where he is going to say 'You know what.' He is going to have to consider opening it up his list or working together with the team on his list beause I was lookiing at his ice time last night. He is 4th among Calgary forwards, 16:52 this year. Since he got back from his injuries he has played 4 games - the most was 15:42 and the other 3 were just under 14 minutes.

You kind of see the writing on the wall. The Calgary Flames and Curtis Glencross have been great for eachother. It has been a marriage that has worked out pretty well, but sometimes it just runs its course and you have to look and say, 'OK. If you are Curtis Glencross and the Calgary Flames why don't you help each other. Curtis you have control over this. We will make sure you go to a place you want to go. Just can you help us facilitate who these teams are. We will help you if you help us'

You gotta think it is pretty close to happening.
Friedman's 30 thoughts also says Tampa is possibly interested

4. The clock is ticking on Calgary forward Curtis Glencross. For the season, he is fourth among Flames’ forwards at 16:52 per game, but that changed once he returned from injury last week. His highest total since is 15:42, but three games were below 14 minutes.

Glencross has no-trade protection, but that hasn’t stopped the likes of Boston, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay (possibly) and Winnipeg from sniffing around at various points this season. No one is talking, but it doesn’t seem like contract talks are gaining traction. It is believed Glencross prefers Anaheim, but it would surprise no one if he works with the Flames to widen that list.

Have they even had contract talks with Glencross during the season?

It would not be a bad thing to move on from Glencross. He hasn't had any offensive contributions the past month and a half. We also have the pair of Bennett and Poirier who could be brought up to replace him if dealt.

If Friedman says talks have gone nowhere, then it is safe to believe they have talked. When the team doesn't want to talk at all (like Jeff Petry in Edmonton), the media typically says so directly.

To play devils advocate... Glencross is a streaky player who is also coming off an injury. I have no doubt that Glencross is due for one of his 7-8 game streaks. This road trip coming up would be the perfect time.

Glencross is not having the year I expected. His goals are way down and I figured he would have career numbers this season to get a shot at a huge payday.

I can only see him waiving for the Ducks or Pens on that list and Notnsure the value is much more than a 2nd right now

There's a reason teams like Pittsburgh and Anaheim are calling and I imagine Treliving understands that. You need warriors like Glencross for the playoffs.

Barring overpayment, he's not going anywhere. Plus, doesn't Burke have a thing about not asking guys to waive NTC/NMCs?

Agreed, not sure exactly how much damage the Flames will be capable of in the playoffs, but Glencross lives in the trenches. He hasn't been great as of late, but he has been a warrior for the Flames, and I am sure he can recapture that magic again.

Burke is not the GM.

Glencross a warrior. Gimme a break. If he's a warrior, so is Mason Raymond

Burke isn't the GM so it doesn't matter. At this point I think they just flat out ask him if he'd be willing to waive. I agree that from that list he'd only want to go to the pens or ducks and I think they have the assets to get it done. Sure you need warriors for the playoffs but our management group has to weigh their options on if his help for the playoffs is worth what other teams would be willing to give up. I could really see Glencross waiving to play on the pens as it would inflate his stats if he were able to play in the top 6 and develops chemistry with Crosby or Malkin. The pens also have a lot of good young dmen that the Flames need. If Glencross is traded, I think we can shuffle the lines around and bring up someone who's earned a spot.

This is a great spot to be in for the Flames, they can trade Glencross if a team is willing to give us what we want or we keep him for a playoff run. Both are good options.

Zero points and only 7 total shots his last nine games played.

I wonder if Treliving has already spoken to him about waiving and he's contemplating it, but really doesn't want to leave. It could be weighing on his mind and affecting his game.

I could see him being like Cammalleri last season where he went on a tear after the uncertainty of the trade deadline was over.

At this point, Bouma is playing the style of game Glencross used to play. Moving him out would also allow the Flames to call up Sven and let him prove himself before they have to make a decision on where he fits on the team going forward.

I think he did when he was the GM but as pointed out, he's not the GM. He's said that he's going to let Brad run the team, he'll over see things but it's Brads call.

Maybe with players that Burke or Treliving signed.

Not with players that were already signed prior to their arrival.

Edit: Getbak article disproves my theory.

Burke did say that he wouldn't ask a player to waive his NTC/NMC during the "rebuild" he was doing with Toronto. In particular he was referring to Kaberle. One could infer that he said it mainly to take media and fan scrutiny off Kaberle for not waiving his NTC/NMC during a rebuild.

Hopefully not getting low balled on Cammy last year sets this deal up for a first rounder in return from one of these teams listed in a bidding war.

I do not for the life of me understand why so many people want Glencross gone. I haven't heard of any off ice issues. He seems to be very well liked in the dressing room. He loves playing in Alberta. He took a steep hometown discount to play here. He puts up 40 points every year. He hits. He can play up and down the lineup.

If we trade him this year, who picks up his production?
