If the cat is doing singing, it is singing the blues for poor Olli.

Sure, the Leafs flip two UFAs for a 1st, the pick is pretty much all Toronto was after, but the Preds are going to make a run and generally have good luck re-signing UFAs.

If Franson fits and the Preds can keep him I feel this would be a slam-dunk for them. He alone, signed to a decent contract on a team like Nashville is worth more than a very late first round pick.
The whole Franson / Nashville thing has some comparables to how Giordano left and returned to be a force for the Flames.

- Giordano leaves the Flames and goes to play in Russia for a year, comes back to the Flames as a much improved player (and develops into their best player and captain).

- Franson leaves the Preds (albeit via trade) to go play in Siberia for a bit, comes back as a much improved player.

They actually don't. They usually lose their UFAs.

And Franson is goners from Nashville. They just can't afford to pay a D-Man 5-6 million to be 4th on their depth chart.

I feel for Jokinen, but he only has 6 points this year. Still though, this must suck for a guy that only has 6 playoff games in his career.

Hell, they almost lost Shea Weber to a Philly offer sheet.

It's a good trade for both teams. Nashville knows it has a chance to win this year, and with how well they've drafted and developed players they can afford to give up this pick. Toronto gets a decent prospect and a first rounder for two guys they weren't prepared to pay for this summer.

Nashville got better today, and that is awesome. Why?

They play:

Sharks: 2x
Wild: 3x
Canucks: 1x
Kings:1x
Jets: 1x
Stars: 2x

Flames play the Preds 1x.

I doubt Flames will catch the Preds, other than some unlikely total collapse on their part. Hopefully they can get a few REGULATION wins against some of the teams just ahead or just behind Calgary.

The race for MacDavid is going to be embarrassingly bad this year. Its like 5 mentally challenged weebles trying to build a house while on roller skates.

Good deal for both teams as we are talking about Cody Fransen here not Brent Seabrook. Preds got some valuable depth for the playoffs and the Leafs picked up a first round pick for a 3rd pairing defenseman on a good team.

What a kick in the nuts for Olli, geez. I don't see him being a good fit for the Leafs.

I have an awful feeling we're going to see a Baertschi-Phaneuf trade.

Funny, I have a feeling we're going to see a Byron-Crosby trade.

I feel like your mistaking Jokinen for Stajan

Would we have any interest in Lupul at all? I would have to have him.

Oddly I put Lupul's name as a player the flames trade for in the "trade predict" thread. I do think the flames would like a top 6 player, but not pay the premium that it would take to get one. With Lupul's contract and injury problems I would have to think it would be on the cheap side to acquire him. When healthy he would be a big plus for our top 6. Cap wise he won't hurt the flames. The big big problem is how many games a season is he going to play?

I can't remember the last time I had a genuine laugh out loud moment over a post. Well done.

Hahah and I just googled weebles and it got so much better.

43,751 reality TV series constantly plugging up airtime and this doesn't exist? For shame.

Smashville is looking like the real deal. Have to wonder how Trotz feels about the season they're having.

The Preds are the best team and he's second pairing...
