Seth Jones is all of 20 years old...wont be 21 til next season and BT has him capped as a #3 at best....a guy that easily could have and was thought to have been number 1 overall in a draft so deep that 4 guys who went on the 2nd round were at one point considered 1st rd talent.
Stunning.

No I haven't. I stated he is right now a #3 when someone laughable called him a franchise D-Man.

Hell, if Wendel Clark played in Nashville, he'd have been forgot about many years ago.
Big markets overrate players and Toronto is just the worst at it

Who the hell cares? I already agreed that he is a good player. But he is no Seth Jones.
And Drew Doughty looked great at 20 and looks even better now. So what?
At the end of the day, I would take my chances with Jones being a better player in the long run than Reilly, than Josi, than Kessel, and most certainly better than L. Schenn and Myers.
|
Not really beacause Roman Josi has far exceeded expectations. He's about to become a 50+ point D-Man playing excellent hockey with physicality before he hits his prime. It's now much more difficult for Jones to surpass Josi.

In what world is Phaneuf and Kessel overrated? All they get is crap for being terrible.
Seriously, who's complimenting them?

So a few fans saying that means more than the thousands more saying that he's terrible. The media thinks he's horrific.
And Yes, he is worth Seth Jones. Kessel can help Nashville win a cup.

Its just because he is below Josi and Weber on the depth chart in nashville. If he was on the flames, i can guarantee you that he would be deemed a " franchise d man ". Take weber and josi out of nashville, he would then be deemed a " franchise d man "

All I remember is BigTuna saying the Leafs are way ahead of the Flames during last off-season.
All I did then was laugh at him back and I'm still laughing.
Toronto is no good, Leafs fans are no good.

Or put it this way. Brodie is considered a huge building block to flames fans and management. Arguably even a franchise d man. I would trade brodie straight up for seth jones 10 times out of 10 times. Whats that implying about jones??

Phaneuf is overrated because he has a C on his jersey and has like $100 million in projected career earnings
Kessell isn't overrated. Just not the type of player you win cups with if he is taking up 8 million of your cap

You can name every negative you want to try to spin it like he has begative value, but many GMs would love to have a guy who puts up those stats every year. There are very few of them in the NHL. I think david Poile for onem, would love to have him.

They could trade him tomorrow no problem.

On Phaneuf being a top 30 dman in the NHL:

*Maybe* top 60. LOL.

Implying that it was all Carlyle's fault:

More blaming Carlyle cause it certainly couldn't be the golden boys Kessel and Phaneuf at fault:

Carlyle wasn't the only problem, but he was the biggest. What a joke of a "System" he implemented.

On Kessel:

"Leadership" is overrated. You can absolutely win with Kessel as a core piece because he's a great playoff performer.
|
To recap:
Kessel is an elite talent.
Phaneuf is a top 30 defenseman in the league and by virtue a #1 (or #2 at worst) dman.
Also (although I didn't quote it):
-the Leafs have elite prospects
-the Leafs are superior to the Flames
-the Leafs will finish top 4 in the West
-the Leafs have better forwards than Montreal
...and probably so much more I've missed.
This thread is funny and Toronto is no good.

I can't wait until Kessel is traded and BigTuna is on here attempting to argue that whatever defenseman they got in the trade is actually better than Jones and was their target all along. Should be fun.

Or if, during the playoffs, he goes into one of his notorious slumps. Or if he creates a distraction with one of his stupid responses to the media as to whether he's uncoachable or out of shape. Or if he continues to be useless south of the opposition blueline. Or or or...
Trading S. Jones for Kessel would be asinine. Won't happen.

Am I seeing the bold part correctly or I need a new pair of glasses. Nashville might very well win a cup down the road, but it will definitely not because of adding Kessel.
One question, what has Kessel done for the Leafs other than padding his own stats?
Oh another thing, Laviolett will eat Kessel alive if he plays for Nashville
