i admit that i would not be keen to make this trade; however, i would consider it.

my trading kane isalways based on teh assumption that kane will be more mature after a trade

seeing as how i am at work and don't have a lot of time right now - just for fun, i'd like to see some kind of comparasion of the jr #'s between kane and bennett.

i should also note that i have not seen bennett play yet and the kane i saw in calgary a week ago was not as strong as i would ahve thought

i am pretty sure i'd make that trade straight up based on the tangibles.
But despite the team's success this season, the team is still rebuilding. Kane doesn't help this season. His durability and attitude are question marks. Plus, the future is bright with Monahan and Bennett down the middle. I think it is a fair trade, but not one the Flames should look into making.

Why would you make that assumption? The better assumption to make is that Kane has wanted out of Winnipeg for some time and his name has been rumored to be in trade talks for a while. Essentially, this isn't a Seguin situation. Kane was likely ready to move to another team for years. The bigger question is whether Kane's play has been affected by his desire to be moved.

Jets are trying to sell high when the product is at its lowest point.

The return will be close to what the Canucks got for Kesler.

If Kane doesn't want to play in Winnipeg, I doubt he'll want to play in Calgary either.

Guys, best case scenario for the Flames is that this lingers to the deadline. Every journo that follows the Jets asks about 'the disruption' and further meltdowns occur. Maybe a fuel on the fire tweet by Kane or his entourage.

Jets' implosion and Kings hitting the wall helps the cause.

The Wild look legit, I think they will be close all the way to the end. I'd feel better with two rivals in free fall.

Corrolation? I fail to recognize the similarities between both clubs. Even geographically they are vastly different.

I honestly think that is a bit rich but the Jets have the benefit of trading Kane to 29 teams and not the 1-2 Vancouver had. If Chevy can get a late first, solid roster player and a prospect/young player I would be surprised

OR
We can send you to the Peg for a couple months where you will play top 6 minutes and then the Jets can sign you to big money or you will have upped your value on the free market and get money you wouldnt have had you played the contract out in Calgary.

Seeing as he is clearly after the coin with his "no hometown discounts", I could see him sucking it up in the Peg for a couple months when it means the difference of 1m + per year moving forward.
If he can't break the top six here, who's to say he will in Winnipeg and for what it's worth he's playing a pretty important role here and getting plenty of ice time iirc. He just came back from injury so last game isn't a great indicator of icetime. No one can guarantee him that he will get more icetime in Winnipeg. He would go from a team that's gelling and playing great to a team that seems pretty disfunctional. Doesn't seem like a great deal for Glencross to me.

He goes from a team trying to make the playoffs and has great chemistry to a team trying to make the playoffs with questionable chemistry at best. Oh and with the added benefit of moving away from his family.

If he waves it's for a chance to win a cup. Imo anyways.

If he doesn't like playing in a smallish Canadian city with cold winters and the scrutiny of a keenly interested media and public, I doubt Calgary is his dream location.

The correlation is:
  • Small
  • Canadian
  • Cold
  • Hockey market
  • Intense media scrutiny
  • Relative lack of clubs and nightlife compared to some NHL cities

Or to put it another way, can you name five NHL cities that have more in common with Winnipeg than Calgary does? I'll give you Edmonton. And Ottawa. And, uh... St. Paul? Okay, that's three...

The best thing to come out of this fiasco was Kypreos' story of Al Iafrate showing up for a practise wearing nothing but a leather overcoat and a pair of cowboy boots.

If one is to believe Freidman (and who wouldn't?), Kane wants out of the fishbowl. I can't see Calgary being much better, in that respect. I wonder what that means for Vancouver, as I had always presumed he wanted to go there.

Tough. If you ever want to win you are going to be the subject of scrutiny at some point.

I wouldn't trade Sam Bennett for two Evander Kanes. Attitude matters more than talent and Kane unfortunately has too much of the wrong attitude. Plus any team he does go to is just a pit stop until the Las Vegas franchise starts up. That's his dream location!

I'm not sure a guy who posts pics of himself like Kane does is unhappy with media scrutiny.

Bob McKenzie was on Ottawa’s TSN 1200 on Tuesday afternoon.

As part of a discussion on if the Buffalo Sabres might deal Tyler Myers before the trade deadline:

"I know the Buffalo Sabres have considerable interest in Evander Kane and will try to make something happen. Who knows? Maybe Myers could be a part of that. Not saying he will be. Just saying that it wouldn’t surprise me if those two teams are talking – Buffalo and Winnipeg – with regard to Evander Kane, that Tyler Myers’ name more than likely is going to come up in some way, shape or form.”
