if you look back in the thread several people have stated "hes only scored 30 once" so yes they did.
He has trended downwards a little, likely due to injury and not being used in a top 6 role.
I would say hes a 25-30 goal scorer when healthy with the ceiling of 30-40 in the right situation. His trade value is likely similar to a poor mans Bobby Ryan, maybe even less with his current baggage.

David Jones has never scored 30 goals. So^^^
Edit: Unless you are including him scoring 33 goals in junior for the Coquitlam Express in 03-04.

Well, that is an actual fact, and is very different than calling him a one hit wonder like you suggested in the prior post.

There's just too much risk involved with this guy. We'd be better off trading for Skinner than for Kane.

Yeah, I'd say Kane's value is notch down from Ryan's. Which was:
Silverberg (B prospect)
Noesen (B prospect)
mid-1st rounder

If any GMs ask for Sam Bennett in a trade I hope Brad Treliving, Brian Burke, Bob Hartley and Mark Giordano all laugh hysterically in their faces.

Just don't pick up the phone calls from Winnipeg I guess. What insane overvaluing of their assets. Locker room problem 20 goal scorer for a potential superstar? Hah!

I don't think it's hyperbole at all. He plays those 30ish games remaining and he probably gets close to 19 if he doesn't hit the number. He was one pace for 22 goals with a torn labrum.

Bennett for Kane? HAHAHAH, I would sell my Flames jersey, throw everything flames related and quit supporting the team for good. Don't need that loser on our team.

Bobby Ryan was a more reliable and more consistent player than Kane, and wasn't hated by his team nor did he have the injury problems.
If Ryan was worth two tier-2 prospects and mid 1st round pick, then I think Kane would be worth less by a fair margin.

So Sven, Granlund and our first rounder this year if we make the playoffs (so 17-20ish range)?

It's true, he's another of those "19 in his sleep" players with even more 30 goal seasons and less baggage. Playing for a powerhouse adds that luck, supporting element needed.
ANA undersold him, but i wonder with their cap concerns if they were looking more for B level upgrades and total bodies, when they couldn't get the prospect they were hoping for.

He was. Now he's on pace for 10 with the same torn labrum.
Did WAYCO account for, say Backlund's surgery, that same way?

I would say his value is closer to Jeff Carter when he went from Columbus to LA... (Jack Johnson and conditional late 1st rounder - 27th overall), so basically a roster player of lesser value and a conditional 1st.
Since our 1st would be higher than 27th and in a stronger draft, the roster player would have to be of a lot lower value or the pick would have to be a 2nd rounder IMO and the player would still have to be of lower value.
Obviously market value fluctuates, but Carter was seen as a player that had to be traded, much like Kane now. That always reduces market value.
I honestly don't think we make a good partner with the Jets based on those parameters. Our team has a steep gradient in player value. We have a few young players that are close to being untouchable (Giordano, Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett and Brodie are going nowhere) and then a bunch that are not terribly enticing trade pieces.
I also doubt the Jets are interested in prospects. They arguably have one of the best prospect bases in the NHL currently. A guy like Poirier is a lot more valuable to us than he would be to them.
Maybe I would do something like Backlund and a 2nd for Kane and pray to the hockey gods that Kane grows up fast or that he would settle down long enough enough to flip him.

With regards to the Ryan trade. Silfverberg wasn't exactly a B prospect. He had just came off his rookie season scoring a pro-rated 35 points in the lockout shorten season and was beginning to get quite a bit of hype about him and was already considered a future leader for Ottawa. The first rounder ended up being 10th overall. (At the time of the trade (summer 2013), the Senators were coming off a playoff season but Alfredsson was leaving and the conference re-alignment made it more difficult for the Senators so the Ducks may have been banking on them being in the bottom third of the league.) And Noeson was a recently drafted 1st rounder who didn't have his injury problems yet.
It's a trade that doesn't look so good in hindsight but I don't think it's anywhere as bad as "2 B-prospects and a mid 1st."

I don't think Carter's rep as a problem child was even close to Kane's. Same for Phaneuf, Richards, or any recent ones I can remember. I haven't even heard of one teammate standing up for Kane in the media. And unless I missed it, there were no well-publicized stories of locker room discipline meted out. Those things are very private UNLESS the team wants to make it public, like now.
Also, Carter, at the time he was traded, was coming off consecutive years of 29, 46, 33 and 36 goals. He's at least one or two notches higher in the skill dept. than Kane. At about the same age. So his pricetag was nigher.

Wow, there is some crazy divergence on the value of Kane.
Judging by the Carter discussion, would Glencross and our 1st be fair? Worse roster player than Johnson, and a UFA, but much better pick. Help now, and help later.
I'd be inclined to do it, in case he's a Seguin 2.0. If he's not... well, we unload that contract and take our lumps.

I pretty much agree re: Carter, Phaneuf and Richards not being as reduced in value due to being a problem child. It's really hard to think of exact comparables.
The only player that was likely as disruptive internally was maybe Avery, but he wasn't as talented.

I too think the Ryan/Carter comparisons flatter Kane greatly. The return should be less. Not the same circumstances, but I recall the Dany Heatly return being decidedly mediocre. Cheechoo, Michalek and a 2nd.
