Wait, what? You would not trade an unproven Bennett for P. Kane? You do know who that is right? I would drive all the way out to Calgary and drive Sam to the airport for that. Nothing wrong with liking a prospects potential but if you could flip him for a proven franchise RW who is only 26 you jump all over that.

He's 23 and has over 100 goals and 100 assists in the NHL. Context is that is top 3 or 4 in any good draft year.
Not an advocate of the guy or his actions at all, but he can play.

but lol@ Evander Kane for Bennett.

Patrick Kane is one of the top 5 elite forwards in the game... So.. Ya. It would make sense. Plenty of it.

HELLS TO THE NO Bennett for Kane..
as a side note I dreamt last night that the Flames won a game last night and Phaneuf and Kessel were in red. I was very shocked but then noticed that Mason Raymond and David Jones were gone so I wasn't that pissed. PS Flames won 5-1

If even half of the stories about him are true, I personally wouldn't want this guy on our team if he came here for free.
These are the types of guys that can derail a locker room, and undermine the authority and leadership of the coaching staff. It's one thing to be an ahole like Sean Avery who played a minor role on every team. But having this type of attitude in one of your supposedly best players? No thank you. I guess some people already forgot what Neon Dion did to the cohesiveness of this team.
Terrible attitude, middling offensive output, mixed with no real need for the Flames to add another forward (who's not a RW)? This is a no-brainer of a pass...at any price.

Yep I'm not gettng some of the comments in this thread either. Can't seem to get his age right or his talent. Size, speed, youth with a proven record. If the Flames aren't sniffing around they are being very badly mismanaged.
The only real question is the price and his antics off the ice. Otherwise they grab a very nice piece of the puzzle.

Not for me, no.
Love Patrick Kane but it doesn't make sense when you have a legit bluechip center prospect in your hands. It's not an easy call obviously but I'd keep Bennet, maybe I like him more than most.

Personally I wouldnt trade Bennett for either Kane. There isnt yet a cap on Bennetts potential. Who knows what he could be.
Patty Kane is a winger. Basically a really rich mans hudler / Gaudreau.
I'd rather keep (potentially) the next Doug Gilmour. I think Bennett can be a Jason Spezza with a lot more bite about him. Exciting player - I would hang up any trade proposal if Bennett was mentioned. He is this franchises highest pick - and could well have gone 1st overall if there was a different draft order last season.
He can stay here.
Pull-up a chair Sam.

Chevy seems like the second most incompetent GM in the league. No wonder Winnipeg still has plenty of former Thrasher players. Put out trade proposals that are laughable and clearly a result of over valuing your players. I wouldn't even listen to a counter offer if that was the original deal..

He's proven he can score 30+ goals, but how are the other areas of his game?

Would we not be complimenting Treliving if his asking price was high, too? You can't let other GMs take advantage of you.
Cheveldayoff is far from the best GM in the league, but the Jets have also been by far the besting drafting team under his watch, which is a stark contrast to the team's days in Atlanta.

I wouldn't trade Bennett for Kane.
I place a lot more value in terms of center versus wing.
Kane is a good hockey player. but he wasn't great last year, and he wasn't great this year, and he's a distraction. On top of that, he's three years from UFA status and I have my doubts that he would sign in Calgary.
Unless Winnipeg ads for this damaged property hells no.

Bennett for Kane?
Better yet, why don't we go out back, let the Jets kick us in the nuts and call it a day.
No thanks.

Well, Bob was just saying what he thought Winnipeg would want in return for Kane and also said that the Flames wouldn't do it. This isn't even a rumour, but Bob trying to articulate how Winnipeg values Kane at the moment.
Having said that, I would put my head in the oven if that trade happened.

Homer glasses completely off, in 5 years Bennett's best season is going to make Kane's best season look like amateur hour and hes certainly going to be a key component in a team.

Kane is on a bad contract if he doesn't get back to 30 Goals and he has a bad attitude. At best you are trading for a 1st line winger at worst a cancer who will play on your 3rd line.
The problem is that you aren't going to get a premium talent back for him but that is what winnipeg wants.
I could see along the lines of a top 6 player and a 1B prospect. So a Pourier and Hudler type deal. Or else a problem for problem type deal like a Kadri for Kane.
No one is going to give up top 5 picks for this guy.
|
Get back to? People keep talking like hes done it regularly. Its time to face the reality that in 6 seasons Kane has hit 30 goals once. ONCE.
1 time in 6 is the outlier, not the norm. Kane is overrated and his talent does not overshadow his BS.

Kevin Lowe has never given a top 5 pick to anyone ever. Hes too busy using them on getting his boss' kid a shiny new toy.
Other than that I agree with you. Never underestimate his stupidity.
