Just a bad game all around from the Flames, and the Penguins were fantastic. Still don't understand why people hate Crosby. The guy is a beast.

Should we be concerned following this game or was this truly a case of being outclassed for 60 without being able to get our footing?

They're going to have to flip a switch going into Monday cause the sharks will most certainly have jump.

You should never be concerned with one game. Conversely, you should never project much success after one either

This was an extremely bad outing match with a great outing by the Penguins. I watched the highlights from the last game an these guys are able to walk all over us with puck possession and position. They are able to walk right up to the net and bang away all day until Sunday.

We had zero puck luck and we needed against a team that creates and controls their own.

This looked like a stanley cup contender going up against the Buffalo Sabres.

Just a complete mismatch.

It happens once in a while, hopefully it doesn't push them into another losing streak.

The only solace I took from listening to this game was how Edmonton thought they would become a team on the same level as the Penguins - nope!

Amazing!! The last few games everyone was saying how awesome the Flames are. Diaz, Monahan, Wideman and others are great. After last night's lost to the Sid and the Penguins 4-0 suddenly someone is suggesting Diaz shouldn't play the point on PP, Monahan need to use his body more,so and so is not good enough and the best part was someone saying the Flames should be tanking. Wow, unbelievable!!! The Flames lost to a good team, one of the best in the league and with two of the best player in the NHL so nothing wrong with that. Give the Pens credit and Flames can't win them all. Only thing missing from this thread is someone suggesting Flames are not big enough... geez!!

Anyone still wondering about the excitement over McDavid and the prospects of him turning a franchise around needs to look no further than last night's game. That's what a true franchise player brings to the table.

Can't get too beat up over that one, we deserved to lose. I can't think of one player that had a really good game. At least the powerplay didn't look completely awful that game. We may not be getting enough quality chances, but at least we are getting plenty of zone time on the man advantage.

For what its worth, if we are going to lose, I'd rather it be against Eastern conference playoff teams because
-They are not in Calgary's way of making the playoffs
-They are not competing with Edmonton for last place

Exactly, I went to the Jets/Sharks game and we played some of our best hockey all year! I flew down to mtl last night so I completely missed the game, saw we got killed, so I came here to check out deetz and I'm shocked! Guys we're still an awesome team, every team has bad nights, look at the Blues last night! Indunno what happened last night but Diaz has been solid on the PP! Chalk it up to a tough night and move onto to what I think is our final game against the Sharks. Win that and we own the Sharks and everyone is talking about how awesome we are again!

Default Pens 4 Flames 0

They do need to change the PP and it's a huge problem. The problem is not Diaz, that 2nd unit has looked better with him on it. They need to change the strategy entirely and I agree with the poster saying a forward on the point.

I think we should change to the umbrella and go back to breaking into the zone with the forward trailing. One team picked off the drop pass twice in a game and since then it's like we're scared to use it, it was working so well before.

Forwards on the point I'd use Hudler and Backlund (Johnny eventually but not yet). Wideman/Diaz and Gio/Brodie setting up for one timers on their off wings/ passes down low at the sides of the umbrella. Monahan/Jones and Johnny/Colborne in front tipping/screening/rebounds, setting up for slap pass, down low jamming/cross crease pass.

If Hartley insists on using point shots, and I don't disagree, the umbrella with a F manning the top is a way better setup than what we have right now.

Go cheer for the Oilers.

That "True Franchise Player" has still less rings than Anze Kopitar and Jonathan Toews.

Both Popes, actually.

Francis Crosby AND Benedict Malkin!

The Pens played really well and the Flames didn't. It happens. And the Pens really seem to have the Flames' number - they always play their best against us.

some positives for me: both the PP and the PK are steadily looking better. We are going to need improved special teams down the stretch if we want to see the playoffs and both look to be heading in the right direction (though the PP still ahs a ways to go)
