So do they shampoo the seat, or replace it completely?

Flying as much as I do has cured any fear I may have previously had. I've also talked to pilots and have a better understanding of the physics of the whole thing. Plus, it's hard to get into real trouble up there with the amount of redundancies and tech built into planes. I actually enjoy it now.

If you are flying on an Asian airline... You're going to have a bad time.

That does seem to be the lesson from the past year. Not great news considering my current location.

We were thinking about the conversation last night. Or phoning your wife..."So honey, I sort of got hit by a plane on the freeway a few minutes ago..."
We also were impressed they didn't manage to hit any buildings. I don't know if that was luck or skill but whatever it was, just keep thinking about how much worse it could have been. It's still awful but yeah.

In it's last moment that was a great try to save lives on the pilots part, another 100 meters and another 10 knots he may have saved everyone.

I may be wrong, but to me it looks like that roll at the end was due to the wing stalling, not something the crew did.

Yup, a few pilots of the ATR on other forums have indicated there is now way that the aircraft rolls at that rate with full control inputs.
That is a wing stalling and rolling over completely out of control.

What I think is even more crazy is that there have been around 1200 ATR built and only 10 fatal crashes. Transasia has had 4 of those 10 and they don't even run a particularly large fleet of them.
There's one airline to avoid at all costs.

Some updates via the Aviation Herald:
On Feb 5th 2015 the airline reported that the two pilots at the controls had 4,914 hours and 6,922 hours total flying experience, an instructor with 16,121 hours total occupied the observer's seat. The crew had signed the flight papers, that showed no unusual circumstances. 31 occupants are confirmed dead, 15 occupants were taken to hospitals, 14 remain in hospital care, one was discharged already, 12 occupants are missing, 2 injured on the ground are still in hospital treatment, too. The examination of the entire ATR fleet under surveillance by Taiwan's Civil Aviation Authority has been completed.
On Feb 5th 2015 Taiwan's ASC reported that the black boxes have been received in the evening of Feb 4th, the CVR contains 4 tracks of high quality recordings for 150 minutes, the flight data recorder recording 750 parameters has also been downloaded, analysis of the data has already begun currently synchronising the recordings. Various investigation groups started their tasks to collect evidence on site, e.g. in cooperation with criminal police to establish the first point of impact, establish instrument panel readings, collecting witness statements, obtain maintenance documents, collect ATC recordings and statements, collect weather information. Investigators by BEA and ATR have already arrived, investigators from the Canadian TSB are expected to arrive during Feb 5th.

Yes of course it was a stall, I meant trying to ditch/crash it in a small river.

On Feb 6th 2015 Taiwan's ASC reported that the investigation so far determined from flight data and cockpit voice recorders: the aircraft received takeoff clearance at 10:51Z, in the initial climb the aircraft was handed off to departure at 10:52:33Z. At 10:52:38Z at about 1200 feet MSL, 37 seconds after becoming airborne, a master warning activated related to the failure of the right hand engine, at 10:52:43Z the left hand engine was throttled back and at 10:53:00Z the crew began to discuss engine #1 had stalled. At 10:53:06Z the right hand engine (engine #2) auto-feathered. At 10:53:12Z a first stall warning occured and ceased at 10:53:18Z. At 10:53:19Z the crew discussed that engine #1 had already feathered, the fuel supply had already been cut to the engine and decided to attempt a restart of engine #1. Two seconds later another stall warning activated. At 10:53:34Z the crew radioed "Mayday! Mayday! Engine flame out!", multiple attempts to restart the engines followed to no avail. At 10:54:34Z a second master warning activated, 0.4 seconds later both recorders stopped recording.

Sadly reminds me of the C-5 Galaxy crew that did the same thing ("Guys I'm concerned"):
On 3 April 2006, C-5B 84-0059 crashed following a cockpit indication that a thrust reverser was not locked. The C-5B assigned to the 436th Airlift Wing and flown by a reserve crew from the 709th Airlift Squadron, 512th Airlift Wing crashed about 2,000 ft (610 m) short of the runway while attempting a heavyweight emergency landing at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. The aircraft had taken off from Dover 21 minutes earlier and reported an in-flight emergency 10 minutes into the flight. All 17 people aboard survived, but two received serious injuries. The Air Force's accident investigation board report concluded the cause to be human error, most notably the crew had been manipulating the throttle of the (dead) number two engine as if it was still running while keeping the (live) number three engine at idle.
