Count me as one of the surprised at the amount of negativity here on this forum for something that's fun and there for the kids. The corporate schmooze fest surrounding it isn't even that bad either.
Anyways, I had fun watching the players relax and have a little fun. I don't even mind the half paced play. Who wants their all star to come back with an injury? It's a showcase of the talent for kids to watch and ooo and awe at.

Gio finished tops in ice time for team Toews, and his +6 was tops for everyone.

MVP at an allstar game used to mean something what a farce.
Watched the 1st period that was enough.
Vorecek, Tavares, Bergeron, Towes or Seguin clearly should have been named the MVP.
Columbus lmao.

With the fantasy draft format, I would like to see two guys from the same team decide to chuck mitts at the end of the game...

I think you'll see that trend continue. They've done a lot to promote hockey locally and you just knew Foligno was hoping to be a captain, fan votes would be rigged for the blue jackets and the MVP would be a blue jacket. I'm just surprised they're so obvious

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Mark Giordano was a plus-6 at the NHL all-star game.

It has come to the point the NHL is just embarrassing itself with homorism.
The MLB, NFL and even NBA all at least get their Allstar game MVP right.
Just like tonight in the Probowl whoever puts up the best stats will win it.
The NHL has become the worst of the All star games.

No Myers Pro-Bowl is by far the worst. Physicality is essential to even play it. It's awful even for casual fans

I always feel bad for the goalies at these games. It just doesn't make sense for them to try too hard so they just end up looking silly.
I do think that the old conference versus conference format produced a better competition as there seemed to still be a desire to show up the other team.

Gio quietly has a great game, nobody notices.
Sounds about right.

Is MLB still giving home advantage in the world series to the league that wins the all star game? Because I think that would be cool for the nhl to do if they went back to the conference format

Why is #91 so used? few stars wearing #91; Tavares, Stamkos, Seguin, Tarasenko (actually born in 91). Is there a back story or just random number chosen?

I don't think we should be making the regular season more irrelevant.
Home ice advantage is huge in the playoffs, and rightly so given the 82 game schedule.

Yes there was still a measure of pride our conference is superior to yours attitude. Whatever when they started to move away from tradition is when it started to go to the dogs.
It wouldn't surprise me at all being how ridiculous the NHL marketing is they started playing the Allstar game with a street hockey ball or let the host team have 5 of their own players and a goalie.
Glad it is done for another year. Best part of the All star game has become when the players are announced.

This floating around stuff isn't really selling the game.

Watching this game on TV is not really that exciting because of the half-speed skating and effort, but I am sure the excitement and the atmosphere are totally different watching it live. I can only watch one period (just curious on Gaudreau and Giordano) but after that, I have enough. I think it is good for the players to goof off for at least a few days during the season and it is also good for the hometown fans. It is an All-Star Game and it is the same as any other All-Star games in any other sports. Just glad it is over with and looking forward in the stretch runs.

I wasn't born in 91 but 91 is my favourite number... Don't know why, I just think it's an awesome number.

So looking at Junior #s.
Stamkos was 91
Tavares was 19 at WJHC but 91 for his junior team, 91 for NYI
Seguin wore 19 in Boston, 9 at Orr vs Cherry game/ Juniors, 91 in Dallas
Tarasenko wore 10 for Russia, 91 in KHL, 91 for Blues
Jersey #s are fun.

Honda gave Ovi the car he wanted after all. He's going to give it to an organization that works with that little girl with Down's Syndrome he went for sushi with earlier this year.
