Monahan and Seth Jones are currently fighting it out for 2nd best player from their draft class. Monahan could end up being the best goal scorer too:

Ortio had 1 weak period in his last 9. He held the fort when it mattered yet again.
You can't yank him. Also I think the team feels very confident in front of him.

Even in games where he isn't on the highlight reel, he at least isn't make mistakes. He's a smart player.

Exactly this. I laugh when I see posters get frustrated or annoyed with his play sometimes. They must think he's a 30 year-old vet like he plays like. We have such a great player in him its not even funny!

I think he meant that Jones and Monahan are fighting for the best player behind MacKinnon.
I also think that Monahan could become the more complete player between himself and Nate.

The player was in the motion of stopping and deflecting the puck in with his stick. Ortio changed the direction of the puck with his glove causing the puck to deflect off the skate of the Sharks player

Monahan reminds me of a younger Toews.

It's amazing what an empty net goal did for Monahan's confidence.

Totally. He seems to go into ever puck battle with the mentality that he is going to win the battle much like the game winner tonight. So much great two-way ability in his game to go along with mature intangibles makes me think that we could have the next Toews in our hands with Sean. Its a long road yet but a great start to the journey for sure.

Great, the Clippers have a game at Staples Center Monday afternoon (MLK Day in the States) prior to the Flames-Kings game, so the ice will be garbage again.
Kings-Ducks headed to OT. Kings guaranteed at least 1 point.
