So MacT is coach...I guess McLean and Bylsma both left calls from the 780 area code unanswered this morning.

They're dead last and have drafted first overall 3 times and they're lining up for #4. A drunken gorilla may have actually done a better job.

Point of order: Neither actually won 50% of their games as coaches. Though they did have >.500 points percentages.

Lowe's lone season was 32 wins, 34 losses (regulation +OT) 16 ties. MacTavish won 301, lost 308 and tied 47.

In fact, the Oilers never won more than 41 games in a season during either's tenure.

One of the reasons I'm happy to not have to tune into TSN for NHL games anymore. What a moron.
I'm not as big a Dreger hater as some on this board, but this is an absolutely asinine tweet. It just comes off as apologist drivel as anyone with a beating heart not only could, but also should have anticipated this continued ineptitude.

MacT pointed out that they're visually better, but stealthily didn't mention that audibly they're nowhere. He's going to start working on that.

I think the one big benefit of MacTavish taking over as coach is that instead of press conferences to satisfy no one and for firing coaches, we'll now be able to hear him after every game/loss this season. What that organization loses in games will be made up for in comedy. "Gold Jerry, Gold!"

Honestly, if I am established coach and the Oilers call, I demand a six year contract at $10 million per year.

Either they hang up and leave me alone, or I make $60 million for one year's work then retire.

Maybe that's Dreger's way of saying he wants the job. He's already buying into things and coming up with excuses.

I just love the fact that MacT will now be available to the media after each and every single Oilers loss.

That alone is worth it.

It's hard to imagine that they will get an A list coach in Edmonton until Lowe and probably even MacTavish are out of the picture. It's a career killer.

The only way an A list coach takes over is if they have bigger plans to usurp management, which is another reason why I think Lowe/MacTavish are going to be looking at lesser known and/or scrap heap coaches. They don't want to accidentally hire their replacement.

Hey Dreger, can you suck up to Oilers just a tiny bit more. What a fanboy!!! How could they not have anticipated the holes in their lineup? Freaking every day fans could see it. How could you and the Oiler morons not have seen it?

Not surprised, but the focus of this press conference should be at a higher level.

Its easy to fire a Coach, at some point the focus needs to be placed at the correct area.
