Very impressed with Ferland, hope he gets some points down in Addy.

He's still tied for 4th or 5th on the team .

Addy is going to be pretty dangerous with the 4 recent returns (though Knight is hurt right now).

Something has to give on the main roster at some point. Too many kids pushing for spots. Ferland should be back soon enough.

Hope he lights it up down there. Kid was a bit snakebitten in his time up here and should have had a couple of goals and more assists. Looked pretty good though!

Correct call I think. I like Ferland and its clear he has a decent long term future with the team, but fact is, whilst he is big, worked hard and did well in his time with us, his productivity compared to the likes of Granlund and Jooris(and dare I say it, Sven) was lacking, as was his refinement in some aspects of his game. That will come with time.

Pleased Colborne is back. Hoepfully he can get back in the groove quickly.

Bad move. Ferland has something this team needs.

I was very impressed with him. They should have sent Grandlund down instead.

He still needs more development time, but he is definitely trending up. It helps too that we need that kind of player in our line-up.

Tough one, I like both players. Not going to lie, I'm a little nervous about changing the dynamic of the team with adding all these bodies back into the line-up.

Hoping Colbourne and Raymond light it up tonight and quickly make me forget about my excitement and attachment to these young call-ups

I rather have Ferland than Colborne.

So, it kind of looks like Granlund is here to stay for a while. He's probably up as long as Backlund is out.

Just when the injured guys start coming back, the Flames start losing.

Just saying...

You'd rather have a rookie that was playing on the fourth line vs. a player that was tied for the league lead in assists before getting injured?

/oilers logic.

Default Granlund vs Ferland

nothing stopping the Flames from sending down Granlund and recalling Ferland, if Granlund doesn't step up or stay at a consistent level over the next few games.

I guess we have to be thankful for our depth, but it's a real shame to have to send down all these young players who deserve to be up here.

Yup this was the right decision at this point. Granlund had a great game vs toronto and Ferland was going to be a healthy scratch tonight. Can always change them up later.

Can Ferland learn to play D? I'm only half joking.

Jooris bumped out Setoguchi's for his roster spot, so that shows that Ferland/Baertschi/Granlund can do the same.

Treliving has kept his word; if you earn the roster spot, he will make room for you.

I actually wonder if Granlund's goal against Toronto is what saved him. Don't get me wrong, I love what Granlund has brought thus far, but with all the vets, we need a 3rd/4th liner more than we need a top-nine centre right now.

It does seem pretty obvious at the moment that a couple vets are likely to be traded close to the deadline to bring these kids back up. Good problem to have.
