2014/2015 Calgary Stampeders Off-Season Thread
Since the season is over and the Stamps are Grey Cup Champs I thought I would start a new thread to track all offseason roster moves and rumours.

Huff says he'll coach again in 2015. After that he's the full time GM and expects Dave Dickenson to become HC

Very interesting. RT @calstampeders: Coach Huff announces defensive assistant Marc Mueller will be part of offensive staff next season.

Bo Levi Mitchell is signed through 2016. Here's the story I wrote about Bo and the NFL earlier this year. || http://bit.ly/1pVrU06 || #CFL

Sources saying DeVone Claybrooks has multiple opportunities both south and north of the border. Belief is he'd like to stay in Calgary. #CFL

Multiple sources telling me #Riders DC Richie Hall is on his way out in Sask. DeVone Claybrooks will be atop Corey Chamblin's list #CFL

Shawn Lemon is also getting NFL interest. The pending free-agent has Redskins, Seahawks and Broncos on his workout list.

According to a source, at least nine NFL teams have already expressed interest in Stamps centre Brett Jones, the #CFL top lineman.

Hopefully we don't lose too many key players. Looking forward to a repeat championship next year!

Wasn't Mueller a CIS QB? I assume he helped scout opposing offences, but it seems more logical he would be on the offensive coaching staff. Unless I am completely thinking about the wrong guy.

Yes, Mueller was a QB with the U of Regina Rams. Grandson of Ron Lancaster I believe. Was surprised to see him sign on as a defensive coach -- makes more sense to put him on offence. Quite the promotion to be able to work with Huff and Dickenson!
Not surprised to see Claybrooks get some interest -- he'll be a good one so hopefully he stays (can't see him wanting to go to Sask). That Brett Jones story keeps getting more interesting -- from med school wannabe to NFL in two years? Same with Lemon -- cut by the Esks to NFL in two years? Wish them both luck but would love to have them back obviously.

2015 free agents. Stamps have a few key free agents this year.
Anything else from other teams that intrigues you?

Jones and Lemon likely signing in the NFL.
Except Hugh Charles, everyone else should be talked to in coming back. Harrison might find a starting role elsewhere so he might leave.
From other teams:
Rennie Curran - Edm (Good LB)
Sam Hurl - Sask (good special teams player, could be a ratio breaker if he can start)
Ben Heenan - Sask (OL upgrade and hurt Sask as the same time)
Tyson Brackenridge - Sask (upgrade on Josh Bell)
Aaron Kelly - Win (Liked what I saw from him)
Luke Tasker - Ham (could be a slot option of Lewis hang em up)
Taylor Reed - Ham (might as well join us haha)
Justin Hickman - Ham (to replace Lemon)
Delvin Breaux - Ham (they say he's a lock for NFL)
Anthony Woodson - Tor (if Walter decides to leave)
Joe Eppelle - Ott (more OL help, can never have enough)
Bear Woods - Mon (he's likely looking at NFL too)
We likely get none of them since Huff doesn't spend on other teams UFAs.

Good signing for Calgary. Developing into a really nice national receiver

Wow. Somebody had to go -- thought it would be Joe West but I'm guessing Price had the bigger contract. Never heard of the two guys coming back but they're both young so hopefully they can develop into players someday...

I wouldn't be surprised if Simmons is starting next year. He had a decent year in Ottawa.
Moving Keon back to HB. Simmons-Simpson-Mayo as LB. Smith and Keon as HBs.
Jamar Wall moves out to corner with Buddy Jackson and Bennett can rotate. Rich get richer. Didn't really need Mo anymore.
Fuller and Rogers will be the key go to guys moving forward. West if he can be consistent this year, who knows about this Buckner guy. If Lewis comes back and all the Canadian receivers will fight for a spot. There's McDaniel too. No loss for us just cap savings and D help.

I like this trade. Good young LB. another big receiver coming back. Saves us Cap space. No surprise some of Moe antics late last season probably contributed to this along with Rogers and Fuller getting bigger roles. Simmons was the best defensive player they had last year. course they were all cast offs so its the best of the B team.. but if you had to get someone might was well be the best one.

Wow, I am in the same boat as you. I thought with Rogers showing he can play in the league that Stamps will trade Joe West. Oh well, the good thing about this trade is Maurice Price going to Ottawa instead of any Western team. Ottawa is actually the Stamps of the East. I will definitely miss Mo Price explosiveness.
As for Hugh Charles we only seen played a few games for the Stamps so no big deal.

I think this is one of those trades that makes sense for both teams. Ottawa desperately needs receivers and the Stamps likely wanted to shed some salary, no better way to do that than trade their ~3rd receiver with a hefty paycheck

Mo Price wore out his welcome with his religious rantings and his constant injuries.
I like this and think we are just as strong or stronger without him.

His start in the grey cup (including 5 catches for 64 yards, before getting hurt) suggest otherwise. However, I agree he hasn't shown the ability to stay healthy (to be fair, neither has Fuller or West), and his performance in bad weather was concerning.
I read he makes as much as $150k a year, so that was probably the biggest factor. He'll do well in Ottawa with Burris... if he can stay healthy.

He hasn't shown that elusive speed for a while now, and although he had a good game in the Grey Cup, he was being tackled pretty quick on plays that he used to turn it up on, and he got injured again.
