Oh what Bill Maher would say about this thread.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...s-too-easily-/

Quote:
“So I get it, liberals can be obnoxious, and that’s why lots of Americans say, ‘We don’t want politicians nagging about what we can name our football team, or how big our soda can be, what we can eat, or who we’ve offended. We have wives for that,’ ” Mr. Maher joked.

Ok well if she's not a reporter and her avatar is that of a "private" citizen then this is even
More offside than just creepiness.

I'm actually a little bit impressed, Adrien Dater is a lot smarter then I thought... managed to cover up being a creepy pervert and cover it up by by blaming, lets say substance abuse... yeah... bit of a tool, but pretty smart....

I can confirm that the ass posting as @_flameswin is not our beloved flameswin.

This ###### has used several Twitter handles in the past to troll and harass CP members, especially myself.

All of his past handles have been suspended and closed by Twitter.

He's a basement living troll, and just comes back again and again.

Just ignore him.

He's used the following handles, in the past:

@ThomasJohnson38
@cp06
@MeekoCiaz
@cp07

There are others, but I forget the names.

Broadcasting is a tough gig to get into period - especially sports broadcasting. Hockey is one step beyond (both as a profession and careers related to it). The vast vast majority of front office folks have significant hockey experience and retired players find gigs in broadcasting. Because it's the pinnacle sport in Canada, when someone reaches the top, they don't leave. Breaking in and rising up is tough period.

Quote:
I was shut down of different projects because "women can't possibly love and know as much about sports as guys" or "advanced statistics aren't that important, I know hockey." After that conversation, I never got a chance. I never got to be part of the learning opportunity they all get to be a part of. I didn't get a chance to share what I know and love, because I have a vagina. Not just a vagina, but one that they can't have.
LOL.

Her blog post is rock solid evidence she is using this as leverage to promote herself. I would not be surprised AT ALL if she has intentionally trapped Dater here.

Just for posterity, I'm not @_flameswin on twitter. That account's been reported by several CP members, but I doubt they'll do anything. He's even using my avatar, which I've now removed, even though that won't do much.

^^^ Jesus Christ.

Talk to Cassie Campbell and Hayley Wickenheiser about how female sports aficionados are treated in this country. Then go talk to Clara Hughes about how she's been treated.

This woman was not abused, she was hit on.

And, once again, the vilification of men who hit on women actually works against creating a culture of consent.

Funny, if you go through any male sports professional's timeline you see the same thing, up to and including death threats and threats on their family.

In fact, I think they probably get it worse then any female media personality.

It's these comments that are offensive rubecube. Please stop making women look like victims when this type of behaviour is equal among the sexes in the public eye.

Great.

I'm going to take a photo of my penis and make it my avatar here. That's totally appropriate, right?

Whether you like it or not, it is completely unprofessional to have a sexualized avatar. You don't see Christiane Amanpour with a cleavage shot for her professional headshot do you?

So then that proves her avatar isn't the problem, yes?

Stand down Drury18, you clearly aren't up to date on what is offensive to women/current events topic.

Dude, I never said that it was appropriate. In fact, if anything I think it's inappropriate. What I am saying is that his behavior is incredibly inappropriate.

She's not a professional media member. It's her own personal twitter account. Hell, my twitter picture is me sucking the tits of a limestone giraffe. How many sexually suggestive tweets do you think I get?
