It will be interesting to hear more about this and why the right main gear collapsed. A single blown tire in and of itself shouldn't lead to something like this happening. Unless both tires on the right gear blew.
I was thinking it may have happened when it veered off the runway, if it sunk in the grass. The plane would pull to the side with the flat.
I have actually wondered about the "propeller through the window" scenario while flying on these planes. Obviously extremely rare, but it has crossed my mind. That lady was lucky to walk away from that one with minor injuries.
So according to the report over at AvHerald the propeller blade did not penetrate the cabin, instead:
Quote:
the propeller blades did not penetrate the cabin, however, due to the blade impact to the side of the fuselage the entire inside wall separated and hit passengers.
It will happen, just a matter of slots and metal to operate it.
I doubt it will be a "matter of weeks" as the article says, but we'll probably hear something in 2015 about it for a start in 2016. It will also most likely be operated by Air Canada, if this joint venture goes through Air China would most likely give AC the slot needed for YYC-PEK and revenue share as per the joint venture with them.
Nothing has changed since the announcement, the Herald just decided to go with a more clickbait type of title. Don't know if "coveted" is how I would describe YYC-PEK.
It was supposed to be in Edmonton on the 23rd, but apparently that has been change to "TBA". I can only assume the load of sweatpants and dress shoes it was picking up to take there has been delayed.
