During my soccer game this evening, we got pelted by hail. I got hit in the eye badly and subsequently ended up in emergency. It was an eye injury and that's the fastest I have ever gotten into the ER and looked at.
But, I digress...
Beware.

It has taught me not to under estimate the power of weather, especially hail.
I'm surprised at how fast the system passed through. I wonder if we'll be getting another round of it tomorrow?

I love it when it rains hard like that and I am at home just looking out the window enjoying the scenery.
To be outside when it is raining hard like that is anotehr story. I hate it.

I was caught it in when the storm was in the NW, at the Crowchild arenas, right around 6:00.
Luckily, I cant find any dents. I thought there would be some, but the hail must have been just small and soft enough to not damage.

Well, during the craziest part of the storm I didnt get any pics cause I was trying to stay on the road, but here are a couple I got on 52nd Street.
This was driving back into the storm. I had turned south to get away from the hail but decided to turn back to get some pics. To give you an idea of how dark it was the street lights are on.
Hail on the side of the road.
This is the west corner of Glenmore and 52nd. You can't really see it that well but that is hail floating on a lake in the turnoff. I figured it was too deep to take my 4 Runner through.
And here is a car that is headed into one of the lakes. I doubt it made it through, this was just at the edge of the 'puddle'.

i had a feeling that we'd be paying for the mild winter we had with another friggin monsoon season. a friend of mine said it best, in that in most other cities the topic of weather is just idle chatter. in Calgary it's a cornerstone of conversation

I was just getting dressed after my workout at the Golds in the NE when the storm hit... wasn't quite sure what the noise was until I tried to leave. There were probably 30 people standing at the door waiting to get outside. After about 20 minutes I put my sneakers back on, grabbed my towel and headed out to Wendy's. From the Gold's gym to the Wendy's, with the towel over me I got soaked. I then decided after about 40 minutes in Wendy's to go to Marlborough as originally planned... took about 20 minutes to get across the street and through the flooded parking lot. That was fun too... navigating knee high puddles. They really thought well when they built that parking lot to drain towards the mall...

Oh, and I got a surprise when I went to bed last night... the skylight above my bed? Yeah, it leaks. Not a lot, but when there's that much rain, it was enough to soak my bed.

lol this is where I'd say...
"my bed is dry and there is room for two!"
I was out on Centre street bridge and 10 feet infront a bolt hit the light post! It exploded (like in the movies without a car exploding underneath it) and the BANG was so loud I swear my heart stopped!
I had never been so clse to a lightning bolt before! It was pretty unreal.
