We will have to learn to play against the big teams from California, they are large and like using that size to bully smaller players, which we have a plenty!

Pretty good period overall. Flames were hemmed in a couple of times, and the Ducks goal was the result of a rookie mistake. But they were much better at the end of the period there. Bottom line is we're hanging in there against a superior Ducks team, and we out-skated them for large chunks of the period. Just gotta keep that effort going, and the Flames will tie this.

Baertschi was caught out of position, looked silly and tried to make a diving block but what out of position. He obviously isn't the best shot blocker, if it's something they've worked on with him I doubt if it's been a lot. You don't sit a guy or overreact for trying and failing, you bench him if he didn't try during that play at all.

That wasn't his only bad play of the period. He cheated at the red line when the puck was being brought into his offensive zone and he made 2 very bad line changes that had the flames caught.

I like the kid but he doesn't make it easy for himself.

Flames need to be smarter with the puck, too many turnovers in their own end. Might get away with it against teams like Ottawa or Arizona but the Ducks are too good at cashing those in

If Baertschi plays the next game I won't post in the GT for 2 months. But it is likely they will see the same things I see and he'll be watching from the press box.
