That's a pairing made in heaven. A guy who loves to shoot and a guy who can pass from anywhere to anyone.

Question though. Setoguchi and Sven. Were they as bad as their basic stats suggest they were? I.e. massively low ice time and terrible +/- numbers. Both are on borrowed time if so surely? Watching the goals back
Was very concerned to see us losing 3-1 and 4-3, but chuffed we fought back yet again to win. Superb character from this team from top to bottom. Monahan, Johnny, Gio, Bouma. These guys are playing so well at the moment, great to see. Roll on Carolina on Monday.
|
Setoguchi was solid defensively this game. Speculation towards an injury perhaps.
Sven had some noticeably positive shifts but still nothing to write home about IMO. Didnt see much of him in the third as the bench was shortened.

The Panthers are big young fast and have a bright future ,but man is that barn ugly. those aerial shots we're horrific.
Love Hartley mixing up the lines a bit , Ramo looked like he couldn't keep track of the net behind him.
Gio , Brodie top D pair in the league
Bennet , Poirer , Ferland on the horizon ! man is it good to be a Flames fan again

The stats haven't updated on NHL.com yet, but only two players have more points than Gio: Crosby and Voracek

Pretty soon the language around this team is going to change. Rather than calling the Flames a lunch bucket group that put on their work boots every game - at some point people will start referring to Gio, Brodie, Mony, Johnny as new or emerging league stars.

I know it's way harder to do than to say, but I wish Baertschi is able to just shut his brain off and go out and play naturally. The kid is overthinking everything, and as a result, makes panic moves and rushes when he gets the puck. He is being separated from the puck way too easily, which leads to turnovers.

Setoguchi actually looked okay. Some good defensive blocks. Baertschi struggled. He didn't do anything noticeably bad. But he was pretty quiet outside of a couple of offensive flashes.

Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
According to #Flames head coach Bob Hartley, D Mark Giordano was just winded after crashing into boards in third period.
Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
Also, #Flames RW Devin Setoguchi suffered an upper-body injury against Panthers. No word on severity.

Al Montoya is not a good goaltender.
And #### you Glenn Healy!
Ps. I really like this team.

Might be just me but I think the Flames are a different and more confident team in front of Hiller. No slight against Ramo but for a period and a half, the D was shakier than heck before the goalie switch was made and they looked completely different.
|
That was my take also. The goalie switch got the team's attention and Hiller was steady.

That game log makes it seem like Florida was just uninterested in matching anyone up against Monahan consistently.

Setoguchi played even less than Baertschi, totaling just under 6 minutes on the ice.
