Monahan silences the haters in OT. Granlund is great, Jooris is going to be special. Hiller with a stinker, but more than a few huge saves to erase the negativity. He's still my next starter. Fun game!

What a great play and pass by Josh Gorges to Mony. Monahan is money when the game is on the line.

The hockey gods were confused by that one. Caps thoroughly outplayed us, but the amount of crap the Caps were up to. Serves em right.

Good "bend but don't break game"

Oh yeah and none of this happens without Hiller

That was some sort of combo, Monahan and Jooris.

Pretty plump.

Thid is the best Flames team in a decade. For years they would quit when luck was against them. I'd work my butt off at work and come home to be entertained only to watch a bunch of millionaires sulking because things aren't going well. So happy with them today.

I thought the play kind of died on Monahan's stick....and then....keep calm and Monahan...buries it!!!!!!

P.S. GT's sure have locked up quickly.

Weird game. Lots of strange bounces and the game was frustrating with cheap shots and no calls.

Criticism of Monahan is really misguided. Last year he was given juicy offensive zone starts and sheltered minutes. This year, as part of his development, he's being asked to play more in the defensive zone and against the other team's top lines. That has been increased with Backlund and Stajan (who usually play the defensive center role) being out.

His goal in OT shows that he still has that offensive sense. This learning curve is important so he's not just an offensive center. Once Backlund and Stajan return, the game is going to seem a lot easier for Monahan.
