So was thinking about the Nashville game a lot and realized gaudreau really took the game over in the third there. Up till that point I was thinking "well this game kinda sucks so far. Down 2-1, nashvilles stifling defence going to shut us down for the rest of the game"
Suddenly JG has a ton of great shifts in a row against a great defence. As others also said he really got the heart pounding feeling going. That got me thinking this kid could be a big time game breaker!
When was the last time we had a legitimate game breaker? I think it was iggy during his prime when he could suddenly just knock everyone over and come out from the boards and drive the net.
Do we have any other potential game breakers? I think Bennett possibly too just from limited sample size.
I think Gaudreau could possibly be the most dynamic game breaker to ever wear a Flames jersey. Is it too soon to say this out loud? I hope not because its what I and many others think. The kid is electrifying. Every time he has the puck, he's dangerous... and I don't mean in a bad way like some other Flames we've had.

That's how Giordano described Johnny in the post-game after Nashville.
Really important to have these kinds of players on the team. Johnny certainly has the potential to be a player that can put the team on his back, make dynamic plays and cause victories.
Gaudreau has definitely continued to show that his skill level is on another level even in the NHL. He just has that ability to make things happen. Very smart player. I just hope he continues to improve and gets more comfortable and develops into a true elite talent in the league. Really have no reason to doubt him at this point because all he does is produce results. If half of the missed opportunities he has been a part of had gone in he would probably be near the top of rookie scoring right now.

Screw that. I think that it is possibly Gaudreau could be that player that comes along only every so often, and if you get him and make him a franchise player, you have a Crosby type cornerstone for offense.
What I really noticed tonight was how fast Gaudreau is with the puck. Everytime he gets it it's back and fourth from forehand to backhand, he never lets it sit still. Seems to work well in confusing the defense and allowing him to thread those beautiful passes cross ice
Thing I like about Johnny is that he makes the defense think. If the defender wants to go after him he spins off them, makes a move. They decide to sit back, he has the ice to make a pass. And it's that split second the defense has to think that makes him that much more dangerous... He's a special player, and I'm glad he's on the Flames.
The city of Calgary needs to pool some money and buy the scouting staff a thank you gift. At the very least a card.
Question: Are there more than 1 type of game breaker?
For instance a game breaker based purely on skill as is discussed here with Gaudreau. (1v1)
Another instance, a game breaker based on trolling such as a Sean Avery? (1v1 or team)
Another type such as a rock paper scissors style where a style can help neutralize the other team via coaching or just pairing up a certain style against another style? (ie: Line vs line; Energy line vs physical etc.) (1v1 to 3v3)
Isn't a gamebreaker a guy who can score? I understand a goalie being a difference maker but a gamebreaker is something else. If you are down to the wire and need a goal, that is when you need a gamebreaker, no?
A goalie maintains the status quo, doesn't break anything or change the score

I assume game breakers are players that do things that shouldn't ever normally happen. So goalies can be game breakers with insane stops of sure goals.
