I can emphasize with being frustrated. I have been on both sides of the spectrum myself.
You have to agree tho you can't have people calling out people for fat shaming then make what could be an insult about another's looks.
It has to be a two way street. Other wise both sides are wrong.

Yeah agreed it is a two way street, but I had an interesting conversation with a school principal once. He said that the individuals in a fight often dictate the speed at which he responds to the fight.
I actually think it might be better to put Polak on ignore.

My thought process is flawless.
Body image issues are a pretty widespread problem and some people get quite offended by them, but are really going to pacify the whole world to the point where "fat" is viewed as offensive as the N-Word?
Some people just love being offended.

You guys have to be kidding me. It's insensitive but let's not make more of it than it is. We can dress up "fat" as much as we want with "plus-sized", "overweight" but it's still fat.

By year 2500, we're gonna have a brand new language because people will find every word in the English dictionary offensive.

I know you take the weight related topics seriously Devils' Advocate but comparing the word "fat" to "n*igger" is ridiculous

Ironic.

The problem with 'bony girl arms' is the 'girl' part.
By saying bony girl arms, you are actually saying that girl arms are bad. There are also bony man arms. Or we could just go with 'bony arms'.
The answer to the question is no, it was not just a fat joke. One might assume it was a fat joke just like they would assume 'bony girl arms' was a skinny joke. However, bony girl arms is not just a skinny joke, it's an insinuation that it is lesser to be a girl and have girl's arms.

Edited.
It was a Simpson's reference, as well as a shot at Polak's complaints previously about not being able to put on weight.

How about just the adjectives that are meant to hurt and ridicule?
Yes, as someone that was taunted, ridiculed and bullied because of weight to the point of being suicidal, yeah, I may be a little more sensitive to the topic. Just as those who don't know what it is like are totally insensitive to the topic.
Yes, that was 30 years ago, but that pain carried well into my adulthood and I am still carrying a lot of that around with me today.

Which I'm fine with by the way. It's a joke.
If you kept making that same joke over and over than yeah, but a one off fat joke not directed at anyone specifically doesn't fly anymore?

Everyone has body image issues, the trick is to be cognizant of people who take it to heart vs someone who just brushes it off.

The word fat isn't very complementary which is the problem. A big person is a big person. There's no other way to describe them when it comes to body size for clothes fitting so "big" or "plus" is used. I'm a little on the fence overall as being obese is not healthy and I don't believe being obese should be acceptable for a lot of people. You don't have to be thin. You only need to be at healthy area for your body/weight index and a lot of people (not all) don't have any excuses for being outside of their weight index. It's becoming a big issue in North America and it's putting a lot of stress on our healthcare system.

What really can you do about going bald? It's not like with any amount of determination or dedication you can work your hair follicles into growing hair. You can pay lots of money for hair transplants that may or may not work but really there's not much you can do about it. Most overweight people could lose weight if they really wanted to.

Black: straightforward

Fat: straightforward
Plus-sized: euphemism

The diet and weight loss industry would seem to say different.

The diet and weight loss industry is largely based on quick fixes. True weight loss is a lifestyle not an industrial product. There are very few people in this world that were born to be fat.
