Wouldn't surprise me. They're already stopping guys before a fight can start, and now they're suspending guys for taking their shift then fighting. (Which I know has been a rule for a while, doesn't make it any less ridiculous.)

NHL, just come right out and say no fights if you dont want fights. Every year there's a few new small rules against it seemingly to try and phase it out, you're not subtle. Might as well introduce a penalty for hurting someone's feelings while you're at it.

That game got out of hand very quickly and I blame the refs. The game fell apart when they broke up the Getzlaf/Mueller fight before it even came to blows, even though they squared up and got theirselves ready to go.

When you got two guys in the heat of the moment and want to scrap, you don't break it up, that just leads to ugly, pansy BS, and this game proved it. Jackman attacking Vlasic. Lovejoy feeding Pavelski uppercuts. Getzlaf suckering Sheppard. Burish going after Cogliano. Baeuchemin punching Burish in the head while he's down, etc., etc. There's too much to list. 127 total PIMS in the 3rd period.

Unfortunately it boils down to Scott getting suspended for sticking up for Vlasic. The Ducks got away with so much garbage in that game, but the refs stepped in every time the Sharks wanted to give them some payback.

Just ban fighting already. It's obvious we're going in that direction. That game was proof

Funny how none of the media pinheads are mentioning how Jackman had just assaulted Valssic on the ice and basically beat a guy who wouldn't fight. There was a reason why this happened. And I don't blame Scott one bit.

I like fighting man, but histrionics aren't useful. Leaving the bench and immediately getting involved in a fight is against the rules and has been for years. The fact that he came in on a line change is why it was two games, not ten.

And yet, according to the rules, it's ok for Emery to beat the living s__t out of an unwilling combatant. How many games did Emory get? I hate the rules governing fighting in the NHL - best to just get rid of it all like all of the other major sports.

The fact that the NHL made an error in a completely unrelated incident has zero bearing on whether or not the NHL got this one right.
