Well, for the so-called loudest building in the NHL, the MTS Centre was very quiet tonight.
Except for the booing at the end, that is. Expect Winnipeg to be the next victim of jersey-on-ice throwing.

With vacation, work and MLB playoffs, this was the first Flames game I was able to watch all year. What a beauty! The 1st period looked bad, but after that it was a real treat.
Except for Setoguchi. He looks terrible.

1 final add to the terrible list should be Diaz. 2 god-awful giveaways from him leading to quality Jets scoring chances.

Depends on your definition of 'playing'. He was on the ice, but I certainly didn't see him doing anything close to playing hockey.

But semantics aside, yes he was on the roster tonight.

according to Sportak, Engelland was on the ice for the morning skate... he should be back soon.

It unfortunately is the type of brain fart that has plagued him in his career so far.
A few more of those and he won't be around.

With Hiller playing >.950% hockey, you can't exactly count out the Flames in the playoff chase. They have some stiff competition to even crack a 7 or 8 spot, but as long as one of Hiller or Ramo is playing the way the have so far, we'll have a chance every night. Chicago outshot us 50-18 and Hiller gave us a chance and we captialized. You almost never see play that lopsided, so yeah. The team has a legitimate chance every night. And so long as they have that chance from game to game, they have a chance to rack up enough points to squeak in.
I mean, how can we out suck Buffalo, Edmonton and Florida? They can't score and aren't getting the kind of goaltending that gives them a chance to win. Buffalo's management were already touting McDavid as a Sabre before the season began..some kinda culture going on there. We can't compete with that. It's next to impossible. So, it's either 26th or an 8th place playoff berth. What would you rather cheer for? Cut McEichel out of the equation and it becomes pretty clear, we need to route these boys on to ride our top pairing and goaltending as far as they can take us this season and try to make it. And think of how glorious it would be if we did!

I'm thinking there's a larger chance we crack the playoffs than end up with McDavid at this point.

I'd agree, there are much worse teams than us out there. A team without a competent goalie and a weak top pairing is going to get McDavid. I'll take Bennett as a consolation, if Bennett gets over 200 pounds Sam has a chance at producing more than Mcdavid ever does. We need to keep developing what we have.

So far this year both Hiller and Ramo have looked better than any other Flames goaltender to suit up over the last decade not named Kiprusoff

I have a feeling Wotherspoon is going to get a shot pretty soon here and Diaz will get some time off.

Chicago picked Kane 1st overall in 2007. They started 4-3-0 that year.
Tampa picked Stamkos 1st overall in 2008. They started 4-3-0 that year.
Edmonton picked Hall 1st overall in 2010. They started 4-2-1.
Edmonton picked Yakupov 1st overall in 2012. They started 3-2-2.

It's still early. They probably won't out-"perform" godawful teams like Buffalo, Florida, maybe Edmonton, and Carolina (depending on injuries) though.

			Re: DT
Did any of those teams have two goalies that could start and an elite top pairing? Legitimate question, not rhetorical.
