So you are proposing replacing overpayed vets with overpriced young players? Do you really think any NHL team would trade these youngsters for Jones or Wideman? It makes no sense. It would never happen...ever. This is not a fantasy league. And if it did happen, how would inserting young underperforming players into our lineup give our own prospects more of a chance? Or are you proposing obtaining these players and not playing them? That's a great way to guarantee that no free agent will ever want to sign with the Flames.

Not true anymore. You can no longer hide salary in the AHL. One way contracts count against the cap except for the first $.9M (?) which works well for us trying to stay above the floor. We could send down say Jones and most of his contract would still count against the cap and by calling up Jooris' $.925M, we would actually gain $.025M in cap.

In short, don't do what the Oilers do.

Its weird how much I enjoy watching this team right now. Even against Chicago, they were horrendously outplayed, yet I enjoyed watching it.
Before, previous to the rebuild, the channel would have changed at the first intetmission.
Maybe its expectations, maybe its something else. Gio and Brodie are worth the price of admission.
Happy for Jooris, I love underdog stories. I hope the organization is doing whats best for Johnny. Calder expectations were probably premature, but I really think he is so close to breaking out. Maybe the homestand will help that. I do think Hartley is a smart guy and knows whats best for Johnny.
All things considered, we have a lot of veterans playing catch up due to training camp injuries. Backlund, Smid, Wideman. Even flu strikcken Monahan. The schedule has been hectic so far. A return home and break will do wonders for these guys.

We should just trade for Pronger's contract and get a couple picks for it.

We take thr contract and we get a 1st and 3rd in the same draft year. Or a 2nd and 3rd in second proposal.

Admit it guys, after CBJ made it 3-0 what did y'all think the final score was gonna be? I doubt many of you thought it would be that close....figured it'd be 4-1 or something at the end. But we made a game out of it.

Boom. We take over the contract at the start of January or mid Feb (3 weeks before the deadline) and that 1st/3rd offer is a fair deal IMO. Philly is going to be a playoff team most likely and 4.9 mill frees up a ton of room for them to bring in more talent down the stretch. The Flames take on a contract that they can and continue to add more picks to a growing cupboard of youthful talent.

Get out of my head.
Was thinking the same plus being able to rotate players out the Ahl regularly as min cap hit would not be a worry then.

Didn't see any of this one, but Columbus is a good team so not too upset about this, especially almost coming back. Glad to see Jooris got his first. Bounce back against Winnipeg and bo one should be disappointed about going 4-3 on this road trip. Hopefully Johnny gets back into the lineup and gets the monkey off his back.

I thought it was going to end up like the game we played in St.Louis.
The comeback in the third period is hopefully a sign that the players are beginning to realise the hard work attitude the had last season needs to be reacquired.

Actually, given this team's track record, I don't mind patting myself on the back by saying I was expecting an honest effort at a comeback in the third. This team works its ass off and doesn't quit.

Because they aren't ready for full time NHL action and easing them in, as we are doing with Jooris is the best thing for them.

We have potential, we need to start taking fewer penalties. If we can do that we might surprise a lot of people this year. Jooris has the skill to stick with the big club, don't dress both Bollig and Mcgrattan. Forget a checking line, we need 4 scoring lines with one of them that can also shutdown the other teams top line. Big Ern, while a big part of the locker room, isn't needed because he isn't going to fight much at all this year. Gaudreau, Jooris, Raymond, Hudler, Backlund, Monahan, Glencross, Colborne all contributing offensively on 4 lines would make us a tough team to stop.

Glencross was horrible again. Am I the only person here that thinks the play dies any time the puck goes near him.
