After the first 10 minutes, I looked over at the wife and said the Flames would win. I knew they wouldn't deserve to, but they would. Just works that way some days. Nothing the Preds could do to avoid it. Of course, that kind of win will come back to bite the Flames, but it sure was fun to win last night.

Sorry for being a Debbie downer but I'm just being real with what I see. You can take it or leave it but I don't see the point of trying to chastise people talking about a game in the post game thread
You're not hearing me right. There's absolutely room to discuss, and the criticism is warranted.

However, just like the post a few above this, there are a few of you - who if we read between the lines - seem to be pretty much saying "Wow I watched that game and I have a bad feeling we might not be very good. I see some concerning signs that this team is going to struggle this year"

As I said... does that really come as a surprise to you? This *is* a bad team as it is now compared to the rest of the league... and that was highlighted by the way we looked against two of the leagues best in St. Louis and Chicago.

It's year two of a rebuild. This is to be expected. It's just strange to read your posts - and that last one I replied to - that alluded to the fact that particular poster was optimistic to start out last season and this one, but that five games into both saw concerning signs. Uhh, yea... we have one of the weakest rosters in the league on paper, and everyone (well just about everyone) knows we're in for a few rough years in that regard.

Your "I saw some concerning signs in that Hawks game" post just seemed like it was missing the obvious.

Not going to go ahead and say it is a problem yet. But I will be watching that area closely over the next 6 games or so.

I know Burke and Trieliving are big on size and the Flames are looking improved in that area. But last night, even when they were trying to keep up, it looked like they were standing still compared to the Hawks. Any rebuild must also focus on improving team speed, or it will be stillborn.

Again, could be they were tired in addition to being just plain out-skilled. We'll have to see.
There's plenty of speed up front with the likes of Byron, Raymond, Backlund and Gaudreau. You forget about Raymond's goals and Byrons couple breakaways last night?

The speed on the back end is the problem and what you've been noticing.

The Hawks tied the game because Wideman couldn't keep up with his man despite being neck and neck coming back across the blue line, and forced him to take a stupid penalty. Outside of Brodie, and perhaps Russell, the rest of our D is viscously slow compared to forwards on a team like the Hawks. Which means they have to play positionally strong otherwise we get ####ed. Luckily last night few guy got caught up ice, and despite the speed disadvantage we still managed to keep the majority of shots to the perimeter.

I think fatigue played a large factor last night, though.

They make funny movies about it now man. IDK, but I don't really find something too wrong with his comment.

We're regular season kryptonite to the Blackhawks. And the Californian powerhouses. (At least last year)

It's probably just me, but really can't stand a jets fan acting as an unofficial mod on every single thread.

Chicago and LA, yeah. But not Anaheim. Definitely not Anaheim. We haven't won there in a decade. I'm praying Hiller can best his old team and finally break that damn curse.

Even though most of my father's family was wiped out by the Nazi's, for the simple reason that they had different political views, I am as politically incorrect as they come.

While some may find it insensitive, it is really disrespectful to Hiller. I highly doubt he'd appreciate the association.
