How about some stats? Those okay to feed you? Zach Fucale, who many have labelled the next great goaltender to come out of Quebec, is sporting a 3.79 GAA and a .892 S% through six games this year. You think playing on a completely stacked team helped Fucale's numbers a bit? Relax and let MacDonald develop. His numbers don't mean a helluva lot because of the team in front of him.

He is? By whom is he being touted?

PS. I am completely relaxed. Not sure why you would think I am worked up. I can have a conversation about opinions without getting upset.

Last year in 29 games, Mason McDonald put up a 3.44 GAA and a 0.900 SV%
 Right now through 8 games, he's putting up a 3.40 GAA and a 0.900 SV%

There's a little bit of similarity to those stats there. Now the thing we have to watch is to see if those numbers get better, worse, or stay the same.

How is nobody talking about Austin Carroll's 10 points in 7 games? Also 6 goals so far? Can anyone who watches the Royals comment on this please? Seems like he's really kicked it up a notch (and I'm aware he's 20 so he should be dominating junior) for a 7th round pick.

IIRC he was projected to be a 2nd by a lot of peoplebefore the draft and the top goaltenders going into draft were Demko, Nedeljkovic and him, so he was and still is definitely touted. It's not like this was an off the board pick, it just was a bit high (they were probably scared that their top guys would have been gone at 54).

The Flames scouts liked him before and I seriously doubt that has changed. He's young and he's raw and he's on a bad team in a high scoring league. I don't care too much about his numbers, the most important thing IMO is that he gets to play a ton of games this season.

He's very good positionally, it's just his glove and blocker need a bit of work. Playing time is the biggest thing for him moving forward.

What you're doing is forming an opinion about where Mason McDonald should or shouldn't have been drafted based on watching one game and a couple scrimmages.

You may be right, but it sure isn't surprising to me at all that posters are jumping all over you for doing that.

"He's not very good" or " he should never have been drafted so high" sound just ridiculous coming from someone with such limited viewings of a player.

I have stats to back up my opinion. You guys refute it with nothing. My opinion is valid because, to this point, Macdonald is not very good. Regardless of his draft position.

You have your interpretation of stats a handful of games into the season.
At least be open to other opinions. Stubbornly hanging on to a viewpoint that has little behind it is silly

I am open to other opinions. I am the one here defending my right to my opinion. I wasn't piling on, I made one comment and it was over till Mastodon brought it back up and started the conversation again. I would say I have been pretty level headed even though everyone is calling my opinion, which is backed by stats this year and last, terrible.

Like I said earlier, he isn't horrible, he just isn't very good (based on me watching him a few times and having statistics for all the other ones I haven't seen) and I just don't think he should have ever been drafted that high. I don't think any goalies should be.

Mason McDonald may not have the best junior stats but scouts think he's pretty good as he's represented Canada very well.

Stats have been updated to include all regular season (no exhibition games for NCAA, although only Hickey played in one and only managed 3 shots, no points or penalties) stats through to 10/18/14

I like Mason MacDonald from the little I've seen of him so far. But still kinda wish we drafted Roland Maceown (sp?) at #34

Or hell, maybe even traded the pick for Linden Vey. 6 foot, right handed right wing. And he is already putting up some nice stats for the Canucks.

After Jooris, I bet Granlund, Ferland, Wotherspoon and Seilof and next guys to make the big team.
It's nice seeing so many bright prospects in the Flames system now. Thanks op.
