Last year 3-2 for the Flames.
Not counting last year, since 2009-10, The Flames record against the Oilers is 17-5 (OT losses simply losses)

All time the Oilers are 91-102-19-7 against the Flames.
Since the Oilers last made the playoffs in 2006 the Flames/Oilers have played 49 games. The Flames have won 32 of them.

I would theorize that it would be more than just Monahan battling flu symptoms in the Flames dressing room. Hopefully the team can recover quickly.
Also I would feel just terrible if we infected both our rivals to kick off the regular season. Just terrible.\
Go Flames
Edmonton is no good.

^ is that why the Flames hit the Canucks so much last night? To infect them?

Calgary Flames @NHLFlames
Hartley has announced Diaz and Jones will play tonight in Edmonton. Wideman and McGrattan will come out of the lineup. #EDMvsCGY

Wideman probably more than a bit humiliated by the Burrows hit and he didn't play well last night (possibly as a result). I get that one.
McGrattan played good for his role last night. Don't get that one.

Good.
Wideman a healthy scratch, never thought I'd see the day. Meritocracy still going strong, imo.

Wideman being traded E7!
These changes don't really come as too much of a surprise especially this early. We have to see how everyone does in game situations. I find myself actually wanting Jones to play really well just to silence some of the critics around here

There is no one on the Oilers for him to fight so why play him?

Diaz could replace Wideman based on the fact that he allowed Alex freaking Burrows to smash him in the corner. Press-box worthy embarrassment.

If Visorface Gazdic isn't playing, there's really no reason to dress McGrattan. Bollig and Engelland are still around to take care of any trouble.

He did get rocked but also am I the only one that saw Burrows smash his face with his stick while he was on the ice? He had a cut on his nose. I didn't read much of the GT but surprised (or maybe not) that the broadcasters didn't even mention this.

Good to see Hartley not hesitating to pull the trigger on getting Wideman out.
McGrattan might see more and more of a platoon role this year with the lack of enforcers in other teams' lineups.
