You could very well be right. Regardless the Islanders are a better team after today, good for them.

Only time will tell what Pokka is.
What we do know is that Leddy will definitely improve their D core. And the Isles have Pulock and Reinhart, who IMO are both better prospects.

Apologies, T.J. Brennan has been the property of SIX teams -- Sabres, Panthers, Preds, Leafs, Isles and Blackhawks -- in 18 months

Isles apparently also got goaltender Kent Simpson in the Leddy trade.
Brett Cyrgalis @BrettCyrgalis
#Isles got Nick Leddy (and goalie Kent Simpson) from B'hawks for TJ Brennan, Anders Nilsson and Ville Pokka.
if true, the trade gets even better for the Isles because Simpson is probably a similar prospect as Nilsson at this point.

Pretty obvious the Islanders want to ensure that 1st round pick Buffalo gets is as late into the first round as possible. If the team gels they should be in the mix for a playoff spot as they have pretty good talent all around now.

Probably seeing a relatively week East overall as a chance to make some noise heading into a new home.

They should definitely be in the playoff mix now.

Not trying to be confrontational but have you watched him play? Because I find it hard to believe many have even heard of him let alone be able to label his future career already.

Johnny Boychuk is the best "hockey player name" ever. Only "Gordie Howe" comes close.

I have seen video and I tend to follow most team boards prospects comments as I like to try and think of guys the Flames might be able to target, especially d men. I freely admit I have never seen him play live but I have heard from both fans and scouts his skating leaves much to be desired.

Islanders may be an interesting trade partner at the draft for the Flames.
Even if they are unable to re-sign Boychuk they will have a logjam of d-prospects and may be wanting to recoup some picks.
Might be an opportunity for Treliving.

good on the Isles i think.
Bold moves and expensive prices are likely needed at the stage when a team feels they have gotten enough young assets to make a jump. I hope the Isles take the playoff spot that the leafs have pencilled in for themselves

One note. The Islanders still have a 2015 2nd rounder as the pick they traded to Boston was the one they got from Philly for Andrew MacDonald.
I think.
Let's call this unconfirmed

no they don't have any more 2nds because they traded their own 2nd for Vanek. The trade was Moulson + 1st (either 2014 or 2015, Isles opted for 2015) + 2nd (2015). So the 2nd going to Boston is indeed the Flyers pick.
Isles now have no 1sts, 2nds or 5ths in the 2015 draft, but as of today, they still have two 3rds (one of them goes to Boston if they choose to trade Boychuk within the division), a 4th, a 6th and two 7ths.

The islanders are a much better team today.
Draft picks are tough to lose, but at some point your young players have to play playoff hockey. If you don't try to win now and then, our players ould become used to losing, or that losing is acceptable.
Not sure I'd have made the Boychuk trade, but it is a bold move for sure

Massive overpayment for Boychuk by Snow, but what else is new. Still, the Islanders certainly have a much better blue line today than yesterday.
They could make the playoffs in the weak sister that is the Eastern Conference.
At least none of the Flames competitors in the West teams landed Leddy.

This is a teamh at has been picking high for years and time to make a push. Adding Boychuck, Leddy, Grabvoski, Kulimen, and Halak puts this team in the thick of the playoff mix with some great prospects like Reinhart, Strome, and Dal Colle coming

Man when you look at how that whole trade ultimately shook down (Moulson traded at deadline for two second round picks, then re-signed as a free agent), it was a complete robbery.

Solid moves by the Isles. No way that team misses the playoffs this year with the additions they've made.
