If you mean just Monahan taking a slapshot in general. No.

But if you mean the mechanics of that shot. Yes. His left hand was much higher up the stick than you would normally have it for a slapshot. It looked kind of weird. But considering the laser that it was, that was all strength and balance.

I agree it was kind of an odd shot, almost a half slapper when most guys would snap it from that area.

If Gaudreau can be a consistent Huselius then we're in for some entertainment. When Huselius was on, he was easily the funnest Flame to watch.

It was more of a Hossa-style half slapshot... But it was freaking sweet.

It was a great game for all of the youth movement. I wonder now between Jooris and Ferland who has a lead for a roster spot, because I believe they are fighting for the same spot. EDIT: Jooris it is.
That was my favourite goal of the 07/08 season. And my favourite Huselius moment. Johnny's moves that he has put on display since inking his ELC here are probably the most skilled plays we've seen since those days.

Wow. It's been six years since Juice left. I completely forgot about him.

It does. If you look really closely, JG's skate kicks off the boards mid turn.

As a huge fan of both the Flames and the Jets, I wore my Jets gear to the game last night. I only cheer against the Flames when they play the Jets normally, but last night I was cheering for the Flames again by the end! But what the hell was Hartley doing at the end there? I can't remember what happened right before and Hartley subbed in McGrattan at the last second. I get they wanna defend the small guys but why goon it up with 5 minutes to go when you're up 4-1? stupid IMO, in a regular season game against a good team, taking that many penalties at the end could have easily ruined the game for them. I don't blame the refs, it was pretty obvious what Hartley was trying to do. The refs aren't gonna let that fly too often nowadays all's well end's well I guess

I completely disagree about the mcgrattan insertion. Guys were taking liberties with Sven, gaudreau, and colborne out of frustration. In any game and especially a preseason game... You send out mcgrattan in response. Sending a message like that is way more important than maintaining the 3 goal lead with 3 minutes to go. Frankly, I was disappointed the muscle wasn't used more often for that during the preseason as Corrado never had to pay for what he did to gaudreau in the young stars tourney.

Eye for an eye? What's the point of putting in a player just to get ejected? Beat them up on the score sheet. I like McGrattan more when he scores a goal, then he's my favourite player. The enforcer role has gone the way of the dodo, didn't Hartley get the memo? Although I make an exception to my opinion for Corrado and the 'Nucks

Lol I was watching that on the stream. We were speculating that they must be going down easy cuz they like having the ice gals help them back up.

You think your old huh? I remember playing pool and drinking with Mel Bridgman,Steve Christoff and a few more at Paul Reinharts electric ave bar in the early 80's at 4am on a game day. Paul himself had to shut everyone down.
