The guy was being a jerk but if that was my mother/sister I would prefer that she eventually just let it go rather than keep going on with him. The guy is obviously not a nice person and who knows what else he is capable of as you can never be sure with strangers especially one dressed like a Batman villain. I would hate to see anyone seriously injured over a seat in a bus. Just doesn't seem worth it.

I'm relatively healthy and standing up is good for you. So I usually only take a seat if the bus of train has lots of seats. If it is crowded and I have a seat, I'll usually just stand up and move away from the seat.

Seats aren't for luggage. The guy acting like a punk, typing away on his phone.

He acted like an idiot.

Could the woman handled it differently? Maybe, but the guys actions didn't give any lee way, and he instantly amplified the situation by being a social ######.

It would have been awesome on a bus if the driver would have pulled over, walked up to the smurf and asked him if he was going to pay for the seat for his luggage.

If he did shove this woman he should have been tossed off.

I must live in a different world than yours. Taking the bag off the empty seat is not a favour, it's the right and courteous thing to do.

If a woman is standing and no seats are available I will always offer up my seat to her. I've also seen countless men like me doing the same thing.

Yes and I think it happens quite often on transit. My sister's friend was riding a TTC bus and a man in the seat behind her started puking. She turned around and asked if he needed to get off the bus. He responded "this isn't a f$&(ing taxi" and proceeded to keep on yelling profanities at her until she finally got up from her seat and left the bus because she felt so uncomfortable. This was in morning rush hour and everybody else on the bus around her just did and said nothing.

Looking at the video again, and she did call him a "bleeping bleep."

I think, perhaps, she did stretch the truth a bit...or at least leave out some details.

I'm not defending the dude, just that there's always 2 sides to every story.

True.

Ultimately, train etiquette deems that your bags go on the ground between your feet or on your lap so that a person can have the seat.

He was braking train etiquette.

She was being a bitch and possibly even a bigot, although the end of that video is tough to make out conclusively.

If you want the seat, ask politely. If you're a bitch about it he isnt going to want to sit next to you, that would be so awkward.

What is most telling about the video for me is how little attention she paid to the person that didn't indeed give up his seat to her. But like mentioned above then video is only a clip and doesn't show the full story

Although for me, admittedly old fashioned, I would give up my seat for a woman or an old person without being asked. I would also not consider it a favor, merely the right thing to do.
As an old person, I thank you.

I agree, though she may have been flustered with what just happened with lucky charms dude and was focused on that.

are we sure this isn't a stunt?

video and pictures of the incident and the offending party is loudly dressed and can easily shave the beard afterwards.

I agree, seats should not be occupied by bags, and the guy should of moved his bag no question.

I always give up my seat every time a bus is packed, because, like you said, it's the right thing to do. I've come across a lot of people who get upset over the stupidest things, making a bigger deal than it should be... this instance seemed to be one of those cases.

What if god was one of us? Just a stranger on the bus? Was probably just trying to make his way home

Maybe I just came across more grumpy, bitchy, people than you.... I did work in customer service for several years in the past.

Based solely on the clips I've seen, I don't care for either of the principals on that bus. But the guy sitting down is clearly at fault.

You shouldn't even have to be asked to move a bag off a seat on a crowded bus.

Someone should have tossed his hat to the front of the bus then when he stood up to get it, sit down and throw his crap on the floor.

Ooh. I am so tough on a keyboard!!

The identity of the alleged assailant remains unknown, although a source told the National Post that the man works at a downtown call centre and failed to show up to work after news of the transit incident became viral.
