"Hangover" and "great movie" are words that do not belong together. So terrible.

Tkachev looked great in the prospects tourny in Penticton, but like Johnny he will have to prove he can make noise in the NHL before he has earned anything.

My original post there was just saying some people are drawing comparisons to JG as he is a smaller guy with obvious talent. He is only 18 and obviously has a lot to prove.
The same way people draw comparisons of JG to Patrick Kane. When they do no one is saying JG is anywhere as good as Kane (yet) but the similarities are there.
Heck for all we know he doesn't sign with anyone heads back to Russia and plays terribly. One never knows.

I actually quite like Tkachev. I think there is a good chance of him being a solid offensive player in the NHL on the right team.
Flames aren't a right team for him, as they already have undersized forwards.
I am scratching my head as to why Edmonton is taking a look, however. Their top 6 has small forwards as well (though better as they essentially switched out Gagner for Draisaitl moving forward) with very little physicality. It will be very interesting if Edmonton offers him a contract. Getting a 'free' asset is always great, but I just can't see him making the top 6 of a team with Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins and Yakupov in it, with an average sized Hall and slightly above average but non-physical Draisaitl.
Also, the Tkachev 'Hockey' seems to be just a joke (and a poor one at that). They are also saying that for Yakimov.

Jordan Staal has to have surgery on his leg. Recovery time is approx. 3-4 months.

Strong rumors out of Chi have a LOT of teams enquiring about Leddy's availability...He will be an RFA after this season, and the 'Hawks allegedly HATE dealing with his agent...the kicker is, the rumors also have the 'Hawks only dealing Leddy IF Versteeg is packaged, this would get them about $5million in cap space cleared, make spots for Clendening or Dahlbeck and Morin, and give a little wiggle room under the cap...the likely asking return would be prospects and/or picks, or the deal would not make much sense.

I think the Flames should be all over that. Leddy looks like he's only going to get better. Having Versteeg would kind of suck but maybe he turns it on and can be flipped at some point. We need a defenseman like Leddy in our system.

Calgary would have to give up something significant IMO

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. They copied si.com which was a site I used to visit frequently for NFL and stopped when they updated to a familiar setup as it's a trainwreck IMO. If ESPN changes to this type of site I will have a meltdown as these new sites are way too fragmented and distracting to be able to navigate and find what you came looking for.

Greg Neimesz cut by Carolina. Down to the AHL pending waivers
Jeff Delauriers (former Oiler goalie whose development was utterly destroyed by terrible asset management) was released by LA
Former Flame Tom Kotsopolis was released by Pittsburgh
and yes, the new TSN site is absolutely awful

Should not be too bad of a price if the hawks are making them take versteeg as well. The hawks would have to throw in a pick or prospect of their own to make up for that versteeg contract. Just like the flames did with the regehr and kotalik trade to the sabres.

Regardless of the Versteeg contact, I think there's a number of teams that would bid on that package, which would drive the price up. You don't find a Leddy type defenseman (age+ability) on the market very often

It would depend on what they're asking for the package, but if it isn't much, why not. We've got tons of cap space and are willing to take on garbage for a decent asset (as evidenced from the Ribeiro thing at the draft).

Eh, it was a jarring change, but I think I can live with it. The stats pages and scoreboard boxscores are terrible though.

Not a surprise...he had little chance to crack even the top 10 D-men as he entered camp (Seabrook, Keith, Hjammer, Oduya, Leddy, Rozival, Dahlbeck, Clendening, Rundblad and Stephen Johns, along with a Coach Q Fav, Cumiskey, were projected ahead of him (and Many 'Hawk Fans will be upset if Cumiskey ever gets time on the NHL roster, taking time away from a younger guy, with more up-side!)), Barker was just veteran filler for exhibitions....
