I put this in the 2015 draft thread but thought I'd put it here as well since we are in awe of Johnny, read this article and think how special it would be to have johnny and McDavid on a line together! Reading it you can almost think they are talking about johnny hockey!

The play was totally clean, until he threw the elbow, ergo 'Mostly Clean'.

He is a year wiser now. Every one takes a different amount of time to develop.

Why are we pumping the tires of Bennett and Gaudreau daily when we have two other studs arguably closer to being NHL players in Granlund and Ferland right under our noses?!

I kid, but these kids are good. Ferland finishes as the best statistical player in the tournament if I'm not mistaken?

He followed through on his statement it appears I'm oozing with excitement over this prospect pool right now.

Bennett would likely be better off staying in the OHL this year, but he has a boatload of skill. Just a little light still for the type of game he plays.

Gaudreau if he was 6 feet tall would already be an All Star. He's just on another planet entirely.

If Gaudreau was bigger with the same skill level, he'd probably be an Oiler right now instead of Nugget-boy.

If Bennett didn't pretend he couldn't do a pull-up, he'd probably be an Oiler right now instead of Dry-socket.

Elson also didn't get much ice time in the AHL and when he did play he was mostly relegated to the 4th line. No PP or PK time.

What a weird thing to say. Before he was injured last spring, Ferland was a top-line player in Abbotsford and one of the best players on the team. He hasn't been a fourth liner for some time now.

Best to worst chances of players who have any realistic shot of making the team imo:

Granlund (plays like a pro in all facets of the game, colour me impressed)
Gaudreau (too skilled not to get a long, hard look)
Reinhart (pretty much already there, just too few roster spots)
Ferland (taken big steps in the past year)
Baertschi (has a lot to prove)
Poirier (if healthy he has the skill to stand out)
Bennett (little doubt that he needs that year)

Slim chance: Agostino, Hanowski, Knight, Smith.

I don't think we can make a very educated guess on where all these players stand heading into training camp, since not all of them played in the rookie tournament. I agree about Granlund, Gaudreau, and Ferland.

Man oh man, Johnny Hockey! That 1 on 4 was vintage Fleury... I'm getting increasingly confident he's going to be able to translate his skill to the NHL.

The team is set up for his arrival. There will be plenty of protection for him up and down the roster, with Grats, Bollig, Bouma, Engelland and possibly even Brookbank around to look after him. Hell, let him lace up with McGrattan on his wing and watch Big Ern score double-digit goals.

When abouts was that 1 on 4? Or where's the gif? Don't make me search through the whole game archive!

No thanks. Gaudreau needs to play with skilled players who are smart enough, move fast enough, and think the game quickly enough to keep up with what takes place in his head and on the ice. McGrattan WON'T cut it.

Unbelievable ...
Quote:
Frank Corrado doesn’t take kindly to the other team taking liberties with his teammates. He put a thunderous hit on Calgary’s rookie Johnny Gaudreau late in the game and was given a major and game misconduct on the play.

“The shift before they went after Hunter Shinkaruk and I saw an opportunity to make a hit on one of their skill players,” said Corrado. “I never intended for it to be a dirty hit, unfortunately it was a little late and a little high.”
...or perhaps "believable" since this rather endemic total blindness to their own players' dirty play seems to be par for the course for the Canucks and their fans.

The Flames "went after" Shrinkydink? I didn't even realize he was playing.
