It could be alot worse with all the priests and ministers in the bible belt atleast they arent leading the way in the downloading of child pron.

I don't know that it is hypocritical at all.
My guess would be that the society is less tolerant so homosexual people are less likely to be open about it. If you aren't openly gay then online porn might be your only option.
That doesn't mean that those same gay people are the ones voting for social policies that restrict their rights. Just because a state is red doesn't mean they all voted republican. Probably 45% voted democrat.

Not sure if intent of thread is to suggest 'bible belt' people like gay porn and are therefore hypocrites?
The more logical conclusion is that there are a percentage of gay people in the 'bible belt' that like porn.
