I didn't see this before my comment. Yep he got what he asked for. There may have been an excessive punch or two, but not unexpected. Illegal? That's for others to decide, it looks to me like the bouncers behaved alright in the circumstances, they stopped once they knew they had the guy and he wouldn't be a threat any longer. I don't think they're limited to a punch or two just to get the guy to go away.

How about this instead--- have you ever watched a guy charge your friend, catch him off guard, and sucker punch him? Did you jump in to help your friend, thereby creating a 2 on 1?

Yeah these guys are bouncers and there's a reason they are, and that's not a compliment, but some slack has to be cut when the guy who is probably loser drunk (or high? who knows) charges in like he's Hercules. He's going to get a thumping.

I wrestled the guy to the ground and told him it was over as my friend could no longer fight back. He got up and left.

Those 2 bouncers had the drunk pinned to the ground before they started punching his head. What benefit was there to getting those punches in other than revenge for his attack on them?

whatever, you see enough crazies to not take the chance that he was just talking smack about coming back to stab someone. You going to wrestle a guy to the ground tell him its over if you have any thought that he has a knife and you know he's come back for a second go at your buddy? I've watched both videos a few times, and I would do the exact same.

sucker punching pos deserved everything he got and hopefully will be charged too.

from the video I see maybe two hits while he is pinned. fighting with him for awhile before that.

We are talking about 2 different situations here. I wouldn't have had any help wrestling the guy to the ground. Having an extra person to help changes the whole situation and how you deal with it

Whatever. Glad you feel revenge/violence is the best way to deal with drunken idiots

I'm not defending the idiot just questioning why they felt the need to punch him in the head when he was pinned.

When I was a doorman in my younger days, I saw so much crap that this video is totally fine by me. If everything is true that they said in their released statement, you have to take the guy down and in my opinion get him to stop by beating him if he's been repeatedly attacking people.

You have to subdue him, until police arrives. Might have been some unneeded extra shots taken on him, but it sounds like these doormen put up with a lot with this jerk before they took him down, and at that point they are human and I'm sure anger kicks in.

The ###### got what he deserved. It is one thing to act out but to keep coming back is inviting a beating. I'm sure they haven't released the video to the public because they will need it for any bullsh*t lawsuit by said ###### bag.

People have seem to forgotten these days that there can be consequences for your actions.

Lol, I would not take a rag-tag bouncers word for "he said he had a knife so we kicked the living #### out of him". They said that because they needed a reason to get carried away.

###### bags, hopefully they get the book thrown at them.

If everything went down as the bouncers say, then the guy deserved what happened to him. Running around sucker punching staff, then threatening to come back with a knife to shank them. Then actually returning. This is 100% the ''victims'' fault. The whole truth will come out in court, but after witnessing many a ######bag at many a venue in this city I can't argue the guy didn't have it coming.

Same here. I worked the door while going to school in my younger days. We had a bad night where a guy was all coked up and we (two bouncers) couldn't get him out of the bar. With the help of another bartender we got him out and then he started fighting with the police....that didn't end well for him. Sometimes people just deserve an ass-kicking. Hopefully it will sink in and they will learn something.

Was a bouncer for years tried to see hitting as a last resort.

Had a guy who was drunk took a few swings at me. I just grabbed him and threw him out. Should be the end of story.

Half hour later he runs up behind me (just like this case) and hits me across the face with a bat and breaks my jaw in four places.

So I have to question myself.
If I had beaten him up would he have got the message and stayed away?
Maybe he would have gotten up and kept coming then and I would be ready?
or maybe he would come back with something worse if I had beat him up instead?

Had another co worker bouncer treat a customer with respect and asked him nicely to leave. Customer appears to be rational then suddenly grabs the bouncer's pony tail, smashes glass over table then stabs bouncer in eye blinding a 22 year old in one eye for life.

the ability to hindsight what these guys should have done is amazing.

Yeah, those judging the bouncers so harshly have little clue what the job is like. An off duty bouncer one night at Curly's when I was working was stabbed over 10 times by a group of roughly 12 asian guys, that was the last week I ever worked as a doorman.

Sometimes, like cops you have to take people down, hard, and its for everyone's protection. This guy kept coming back and attacking people, sorry but what should they do, hug him?

"Rag-tag bouncers". lol Someone has been ejected from a bar when he feels it wasn't justified.

Lawfully, you are only able to retaliate to the point that the attacker is subdued. Once you have the situation under control, lawfully, anything beyond subduing your attacker is considered excessive force, regardless of whether the person in question deserved it.

If it was a cop, it would be considered police brutality.

Have you read anything in this thread or the article? They have video evidence that backs up their claims, which the police have seen and agreed. In fact the cops have stated that if any charges are going to be filed it will be against the instigating d-bag

which is exactly what they did, attacked to the point where they could be in control. the cops have reviewed more evidence and heard more witnesses than anyone here and they made it sound very open and shut, the bouncers did not exceed that threshold.

I guess this thread has served it's purpose and should likely be closed then!

Good job everyone, handshakes all around. (not sarcastic, there really isn't any further discussion to be had then).
