Default Police investigate after violent video of Wal-Mart takedown

Possible NSFW for violence.

The 26-year-old man had allegedly stolen from the store and two loss prevention officers caught up with him in the parking lot.
The beginning of the video shows two men wrestling with the person believed to be a shoplifter. Eventually, the man pulled out a knife.
After a scuffle, the two men apparently get control of the weapon, wrestle the alleged shoplifter to the ground and hit him repeatedly.
I personally have no issue with this at all.
On my FB feed there are comments about how the 'young gentleman' could've been killed by the two moron police wannabes and for what, shoplifting.
Understandably it's not nice to watch someone get dropped on their face and punched and elbowed, it wasn't nice to watch the guy trying to stab the LPO's either.
I just can't understand how some people can honestly try and defend someone like this.

Those LPOs could have been killed if he stabbed one in a bad spot. The gloves come off when you pull a knife and stab someone.

Not much sympathy for the d-bad who stole, then resisted, then pulled a knife. Most of the damage appears to occur when he hit the ground, and he continued to resist at that point.

Boo hoo hoo.

There was something strangely satisfying about the sound of his head hitting the pavement.

In fairness, claiming that the LPOs went too far is not the same thing as defending the thief. It is possible they could both be in the wrong, legally. Morally though, I have no problem with this at all. Pull a knife on someone, your head deserves to hit the pavement.

He shoplifted, stabbed someone, then got beat up. Shocking.

Don't stab people.

Maybe he stole the knife and was trying to give it back

Both parties are in the wrong. The guy shouldn't have shoplifted in the first place, but the LPOs shouldn't have jumped him in the parking lot. I'd consider the stabbing self defence, because if two dudes jumped me in a parking lot I would try to defend myself any way I could (I don't carry a knife, but that's not the point).

The only real issue I have is that they did not take him to the ground harder after the knife came out. Once you escalate the altercation you had better sack up and take your punishment.

Are LPOs even allowed to touch a suspect in the first place?

The punk also shouldn't have been carrying a concealed weapon, and the self defense argument goes out the window as soon as they identified that they are LPO's and bringing him into custody.

And you know something, if you commit a crime and you're being taken down and you stab one and continue to struggle and take an elbow to the face, that's life in the NFL. The way that he was taken to the ground was actually not bad.

Its a major crime to carry a concealed weapon, hopefully the judge throws this jerk away for a while.

Yes, they are authorized to detain without a warrant, and yes they can physically grab you.

Bet that LPO won't put a suspect in a headlock again (leaving his hand / arm unrestrained)

Did I miss something? That seemed like a pretty tame takedown for someone who just stabbed you. 100% justifiable.

No, not at all. Why should someone be allowed to defend themself when they get jumped by a couple meatheads in a parking lot? What a ridiculous concept.
